  • Advantages of a 90 over a 50

Just wondering as the title suggests. Does a 90 have a better power to weight ratio? Are they as nimble? Are they more stable? Are they the ultimate in power and precision? Are the power/performance gains similar to that of a 30 vs 50?

Not getting one yet, just curious.
    Pete

You know what they say Pete.
    Bigger is better!
To be honest I think it is just down to personal choice.
I do like the Trex 700 but need to learn to be less intimidated by it.
But I have been having a blast lately with the 600.
The 700 gets through a heck of a lot of sky mind you and is pretty quick and a little more stable over the 600. That said the 600 is a very stable platform to work off.
Although I am no expert (yet ;-) ) I like them both for different reasons.
The 90 gets through the fuel though!

The power to weight ratio is slightly better on the average 90 vs a 50, but they are very close.

      90 vs 60 is similar to 50 vs 30.

They are also more stable, but the down side is they are thirsty and it will obviously cost more when one goes in.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Looking forward to seeing yours in action Adrian to draw comparisons. I'm loving my 600's too! Had a few evenings out with Aidi this week and had a blast!

I'm working the other way round Pete.

            Got a 700 before I bought a 600nsp just last week.

Only just had my first flight with the super pro last night but already feel its going to be quite a heli.

As for the 90 size heli power to weight.... I just don't know how it does it.

Response is awesome and fly's on rails.

Can honestly say I have had plenty of helis in my short time with this hobby but give me the 90 size any day..

And must agree, They certainly drink fuel at some rate but you get rewarded with grin factor 10 every flight....

700 rocks, has bags of power on collective pitch so the climb rate is alot better.
              More stable in the air.
But the main difference i notice is it holds in the air for longer, i.e. won't lose hieght so fast when doing diff moves so gives you more time to react.
It is not as fast as the 600 on the cyclics but not much in it

90's seem to defy gravity Don't seem to plummet towards the ground during moves that go through knife edge flight.
                Other than that...
Love the presence of the 90 and the way it flies and tracks.
It feels "heavier" in the air and not so keen on it's drink problem
                Cheers, Lee.

ive flown a few 700's now and they are very nice and they do seem to float very nicely, not as fast on the cyclics as my knight, but very close but i have my knight turned down a bit at the mo but i can get it a lot faster. but ive gotta admit a 90 is a lot smoother to fly and more stable so therefore easier to fly than a 50. but for shear stickbanging hardcore 3d fun theres no beating the 50 even if you have to be a better pilot to get the best from it

                      90 size = Smooth & Effortless Flying!

That sums up what I found of the 90 size class today.
I had never flown one before but everything is so much smoother & the power in the climb is amazing.
They seem to climb with no effort at all.
Flips & stuff are just as easy if not easier & autos, especialy unplanned ones like I had today are without fuss.
