Well guys ive just given the TRex 600 Nitro Super Pro its first maiden flight and it was very successful indeed. What a super smooth helicopter to fly! Now got everything programmed and all i have to do is put another 4 or 5 tanks through her to run the engine in. Will probably do that on sunday weather permitting. There was one little hicup i did have. Im running a spartan 760 mounted on the stock gyro mounting position behind the canopy and using the method described in the spartan manual (metal plate with thick pad on bottom and thin pad on top). Now because im running the engine in its nice and rich and ill obviously be doing that throughout the next 4 tanks. Because of this im getting a very slight vibrating throughout the frames etc. These vibes are transfering through to the gyro simply because the stock Align gyro mount is almost right above the engine. Bearing in mind this is the engines first tank of fuel... when idling if i look at the gyro i can physically see it vibrating until i give it some throttle. Now it didnt really show up in flight but im worried these vibes (maybe i should use the word buzzing as thats what it sounds like really) will do something to the gyro causing it to fail in some way and let go of the tail which would obviously cause me problems. Has anyone had the same issues using this combo? I was contemplating modifying the frames just behind the swash plate. Then i could fit the gyro mount there as its further away from the engine and seemed to be less noise there. Check out the picture and you can see the flat space behind the swashplate. Im sure this would cure the problem. Has anyone done this? Any input appriciated. Trying to be safe rather than sorry with this. This is the only prob i came across to be honest and the helicopter flew brilliantly. Managed to set my idleups/throttle hold and cut/gyro gain and end points/swash afr for cyclics and pitch all in 1 flight so im quite happy with that. Cant wait for sunday so i can get this baby broken in properly. I can see this helicopter being very favourable in my fleet.
