Anyone got any tips on easy access to fan magnets

Hi all

I have a feeling I may of incorrectly installed my fan magnets as my govner light does not go off when I rotate the starter shaft.

Anyone got any tips on how to ge to them without removing the whole engine?

Depends on what you used to stick the magnets in with,I ended up buying a new fan cos i stuck mine in with 30min epoxy and found it almost impossible to remove them.

I think I may have used the CA glue that came with the kit.

is it a plastic fan?

Yes, the standard plastic one.

I reckon you will possibly bu**er the fan up trying to remove the magnet,Your best bet will probably be to change the fan for a new one.
Mine was a metal one so a costly mistake to make and I still have the fan with half the offending magnet still stuck in it and i just cannot get the f****r out.

You'd have to take the engine out but I've found the best way is to drill a small holeon the underside of the magnet, then you can drift it out although I'd probably get the metal upgrade fan and fix the magnets to this

You should be able to drill it out - or dremel etc...

Have tried Rob but the bugger will not budge it only breaks a bit at a time so am getting there slowly but then it is a spre now so it can wait.

If you get to stuck i still have my plastic fan thats never been fitted when i bought my rexy, u can have it

What governor is it?
With most governors, the magnet brings the light on. For the light to not go off, I doubt it would be a magnet problem. It would more so be a governor/sensor fault or wires plugged in the wrong place.
I would recheck your wiring etc first.

If you do narrow it down to a magnet fault, CA is quite brittle.
Try giving the fan a bit of a tweak/flex around the magnet area & the CA will most likely crack & the magnet will almost fall out.

How old is the kit? In the newer kits Align actually redesigned the plastic fan to give more strength, as the older fans were flexing in flight & spitting out the magnets. So give it a flex yourself & see what happens

The Align metal fan is the way to go. Comes with magnets too.

if it is the align gov you have to fit one north pole up and the other south pole up, if both are the same way up, and not the way the sensor detects, then it won't work.
