  • Align pipe problems

I have had my 600 only since about March this year and its already had to have 2 new pipes fitted as the baffles came lose on the first 2.

Has anyone else had issues with these exhausts?

btw i dont do any 3D yet, just circuits and havent crashed at all

I changed from the MP5 to the Align pipe on my 600 because of the extra power it gives you (and it really does). It's just tuned better for the nitro level and headspeed I run (30% 3DLV and 2100rpm). Had a few gallons through it now with no problems, as have three mates with 600s.

It's all down to luck - it does seem many are faulty but if you get one that has the baffles welded on properly it's an awesome pipe, and fits the 600 perfectly (unlike the MP5).

At high headspeeds it IS much louder than the MP5, but in a good way

If you look on RunRyder you will see long threads complaining about Align 50 pipes blowing their baffles and even the end pipe off. Mines been fine for over 12 months now running 30% nitro fuel and a headspeed of 2050rpm plus the other 3 in our club using the same pipe have had no problems either.

It looks like you are the really unlucky one, are they replacing them under warranty?

After several hundred flights with my 600n Pro, the majority of which have had the Align pipe fitted, and only been through one crash (due to Align 2 in 1 regulator failure), my pipe finally bit the dust a couple of weeks ago.
Mid-flight I noticed the engine going lean so quickly landed to see what was wrong. The muffler had separated from it's manifold around the weld area - much more flying on it and it would have fallen off, and knowing my luck gone straight through the blades...

I love that pipe for the power it delivers, but the MP5 is very very close on power IMO and is obviously quieter. The major advantage though is it runs considerably leaner (approx 10 clicks on the main needle) than the Align pipe, so you get longer flight times

                  Cheers,
                  Rob

I must be the unlucky guy hehe

and yes, Bob at Skyline has swapped both out for no charge.

My 600 pro's been jinkst (not sure about that spelling) since i got it.

I have been through 2 x pipes, 1 x canopy, 1 x 611 and 9256, set of main shaft bearings, new Hyper piston and bearing (holed piston crown) and i cant even do 3D (non of this from crashes btw). Seems i got everyones faults on my heli but hopefully things will get better now. The thing is I BLOODY LOVE THE DAMN THING, best heli on the market imo.

Thanks for all your input guys

                    Take care

ive just had a new fault with my align pipe the threads stripped themselves out of the manifold IN FLIGHT, there is no resonance in the heli, and i cant understand it, hey ho ill just helicoil it and all will be right with the world again

You can buy helicoil kits from rs online, but it might be advisable to call them and speak to someone to ensure you get exactly the right one. I ordered one from the website which looked like the right spec, and when it arrived it was indeed the right size, but had the wrong thread pitch which wasn't a detail noted on the website

                          Cheers,

Could you not just run a 3mm drill through the threaded holes to clear them of the thread and then use a longer bolt with a nut on? Had to do this to my MP2 and a Hattori 522, it worked well on these.
