  • Inverted problem

Guys, I'm stumped here. My 600n Pro seems fine but when trying to punch out of an inverted hover there is a delay between my input and the heli responding. Mechanically its fine. No binding in all cyclic directions with +/- 10 degrees pitch. I tried increasing the swash AFR amounts to get more throw resulting in 7 degrees aileron/elevator. Just started doing inverted and really crap/messy tic-tocs and the forward cyclic is just letting me down and giving me less confidence to try new things with this heli. Feels like sometimes I'm getting no input at all. I've got 2 of these helis with pretty much the same set up and the other is fine. For info I use Futaba gear (9C and 149 receiver) with 3050 digitals. Any ideas?

Could it be an engine mixture issue? Check the clunk can sit correctly in the main tank whatever the orientation of the heli. Are you using a header tank? Might be a good idea for one.

Not using a header tank but I think its about time I did. The clunk is fine and fuel/mixture is ok as the engine runs great. The problem is there even with a full tank. There is just a lag between my stick input to the heli responding and only seems to happen with forward cyclic, particulary from inverted hover. Are you saying the engine may be losing power therefore taking more time to respond to cyclic inputs?

Your not bonkers! I did start a similar thread but still not got to the bottom of it so thought I would try again.

Are you running a Govenor on both helis?
I have put a throttle mix in on my 600 pro & it's a rather large amount of throttle to aileron & elevator to realy get the head speed up during flip moves it just realy used to kill the head speed whilst inverted without a gov on it. So much so the head speed decayed to the point of me worrying about pulling out inverted.

Yeah, GV-1 on both with 2100 headspeed in idle up. It doesnt seem like a headspeed problem as the GV-1 reads a max HS as 2140. There is just an unexpected delay between my thumb moving and the heli responding. Its really puzzling me!!!!

I too have a problem when inverted, setup +10 - 10 on pitch with v curve for throttle but running gov anyway set at 2000 HS.

When hovering normal and i give it full stick its very responsive but when inverted and do the same it feels very sluggish.

                Running a header tank.

Just started doing inverted stuff so this makes me slightly nervous, hope someone can shed some light on this one.

If you are certain it's mechanically OK and the end points etc. are all set up right, have you considered it might be the elevator servo itself? Maybe it's on its way out and under load it doesn't like going in one particular direction. Try swapping servos on your two helis. I still doubt very much it's the receiver.

Turned out that for Peter (Trex Pedro) the problem was that he had expo dialled in.
After removing it he felt the heli responded much snappier.
I don't know if this might be your problem but might be worth a look.

Adrian is right. I took out the expo and the problem went away. However, later in the day I put the expo back in (-10% futaba) as it was a bit of a handfull and it flew great....wierd!! The only difference I can think of is that the day I problems was rather windy. Saturday was much calmer and I had no troubles. I'm running the Thunder Tiger/BBT blades and pointing the finger at them at the moment for the handling in windy conditions. I'm going to swap blades on my helis tonight to test my theory and compare performance.
