  • Help with a wobble!!

    Need some help guys!!

Noticed recently a wobble in the hover in normal flight mode on my 600n pro.

Noticed it about a gallon ago and thought it was the head dampners so i changed them for the upgraded sleeve kit this morning and hoped that would cure it.

Went out tonight and its worse... quite a lo
    t worse!

As i said it flattens out in udle up but its not happy at the lower head speed.

I have checked all over the heli for anything loose and all is well

    Any ideas?

By the sounds of it you have answered your own question.. Idle up ok with faster head speed, at lower head speeds it starts to wobble

I was having a similar wobble on my 500 and cured it increasing the mid point of my throttle curve.

Having said that, i am no expert, just going by other posts which i have read. I am sure others with 600's will be able to confirm this or offer better solutions.

    Rgds

Noticed it yesterday on all my helis in the wind, up the throttle curve on normal mode so at mid stick it is higher, tweeked a couple of mine yesterday.
By the way, what did the parents think?

Very impressed they are!! I'm chuffed as my dad used to fly lightnings and Phantoms in the RAF so he's not going to say my flying a model is impressive unless he means it... bloody plank fyers!!!

Back to subject.... its definately not happy, shaking really quite badly. If i didnt know better i would have thought the main shaft was bent!

I expect it was just the head speed, but check there is no play up and down on the shaft, it might of slipped on the collet at the top of the upper bearing block.

No play anywhere mate.. would the headspeed have altered over the last week? it is something that has slowly got worse. I thought it was the dampners but no. Headspeed makes sense but it's been rock solid at low head speeds since the build so unless that has dropped further i can't see it being the cause?

Maybe check the flybar paddles are both aligned correctly, and also that they are equidistant from the centre. They are easily knocked when transporting so perhaps one has twisted, or possibly the flybar has gotten bent slightly?

Or how about worn main bearings? Upgrade metal main bearing blocks are £20 (you get two 'A' blocks) so perhaps consider an upgrade there (I did when I had my 'incident' on my 600N Pro kit). Possibly on a previous main-shaft bending crash an upper bearing got damaged maybe.

I had the same wobble or nodding with my 600n when I first installed the stiffer damper/sleeve set. Had to raise the head speed in normal mode to about 1700 on my gv-1 governor to get rid of it. If its not doing it in idle up then I reckon thats probably it.

                    Hope that helps.

                      Hey Mark,

Have a look at this thread. (I found Finless Bobs answer appropriate to you). May answer your question.

I had this problem after I installed the sleeve kit.

It was definitely a stiff head/low headspeed problem in my case.

The dampeners supplied with the sleeve are actually harder than the black ones from the original kit.
The ones supplied with the sleeve are 90° in hardness & the black ones from the kit are 80°

What I did was installed the sleeve but used the 80° dampeners & it was much better in a normal mode hover & still great in hard 3D.

I will buy the 80° dampeners rather than the 90° in future.

Had to up the head speed on mine come to think of it after i fitted the sleeve kit, it was also suffering from the wobbles at the weekend, but i put that down to the wind, i will up mine to try to take out the wobble at the next flying session.

Think i will go this route and replace with the stock 80 dampners, increase the headspeed a little in normal flight mode too.

I'm only just getting into mild 3D so don't need a rock solid head as yet. I only replaced for the upgraded dampners as i thought they were shot already.

I'm releived though... thaught the heli was developing a problem!

No need to put the old dampers back in, just up the head speed Mark to take account of them, if you are unsure how to do it, give me a bell tonight and i will run through with you how.
