The result is people don't post stuff due to this continual negativity. I've got pictures of the T-Rex 500 torque tube, can I be bothered to post them?

Moved along, I don't care, just like to moan about people moaning, nothing else to do

Un-believable comments on this thread, I am shocked..

All Trevor did was post a video clip of the latest 700 from Align and all he gets is criticism for posting it.

I for one agree with Thomas, Any footage is better than none, Good points or bad.

I thought this hobby was to enjoy in our spare time, It seems its a hunting ground for some rounding up the lynch mob..

        Rant over.

anyway, can someone in the (relative) know about this please tell me the issue about the 3rd bearing block? I assume it doesnt have one? cant see it in any pictures. Whats the general consesus about this (without any bitching!)?

jamie, no it doesn't have a 3rd bearing block. it remains to be seen if the final one will have one. my own view is i would prefer the bearing block to help stiffen up the frame. imo it's a pretty major oversight. time will tell how important it is or if the final one has one.

              cheers

it depends on how stiff the frame is as to whether it will actually need one.....and we don't have that info.

surely its also a good idea to spread the load across 3 bearings aswell, and to ensure a 100% good gear mesh all the time?

Impressive or what, the final model should raise some envious looks at any airfield.

All in with everything added, what do you think the final price will be?

again, my own view, reguardless how stiff the frame is the 3rd block should be there.

it's an align, i think we can guess now how stiff the frame is. but there is some neat ideas on the heli. again, final production may change a few things.

                      cheers

you can ask thunder tiger about the lead/lag. i think they went through this stuff years ago.
Is that why TT helis have the centre pivot block?
Wouldn't the up & down flapping be much more extreme than lead/lag?

at this stage it's pre-production, as JK said it's unflown, so I expect there will be a bunch of changes yet, possibly including a 3rd bearing block if it's needed.

I would have to agree with Paul its a major oversight not using a 3rd main shaft bearing block below the freewheel hub (note there is also not much meat left in the current frame design to even add one!!!)

To go with a two bearing block layout they would need to be very well spaced combined with a seriously stiff frame...but the damn fuel tank is in the way so thats not happening either.

Another thing in a two brg system is the upper brg block acts as a pivot subjecting the lower bearing to some evil loads..what we are doing is basically holding the model by the end of the main shaft.. and shaking it vigouriously...

the slightest bit of movement/play will see the whole drive going in/out of alignment ...

Its early days yet.. So lay your bets lads...3rd brg block or blown clutches...

                                Be interesting to observe developments
