    Does look good I admit.

But will it or won't it have a phase issue...

Price will be intresting as well.

But I'd certianly wait 4-12 months and see what's what with it
I can't tell without flying it, the 500 is very axial so my bets on it being spot on.

I am gonna agree with Ade on this one, same old stuff again but bigger

Dont get me wrong,i am not knocking Align as a whole, maybe they should rename their company Thunder Tiger Mk 2 though

Little innovation, admit nothing, keep pushing the same old stuff

2 stage tail again by the looks of it wonder if they've made the gears stronger this time?

            LOL

Dont get me wrong,it will sell by the truckload and the marketing machine will again be going into overdrive from now on.

The painful truth is that as much as i adore my 600N`s and dont intend to sell them or my electric Align helis, this is just the same thing scaled up and after maidening my Knight 3d yesterday i can hand on heart say that it flies much sharper than either of my Aligns EVEN AFTER i have spent money upgrading the Aligns to fly better, the Knight 90 will outfly this 700 if they use that head design yet again.

I feel the Align helis have a smooth feel to them and it is pretty nice but the Compass head is pin sharp accurate and i would say it was as different to the 600N as they were to my Rappy 50 with the standard head.

That's a scaled up 500 head which is different to the 600. Also it looks like a scaled up 500 swashplate, which has no phasing issues on it at all. We all know the 500 flies straight as an arrow.

The tail unit is different, also there's a metal horizontal stabilizer clamp, clearly torque tube drive and scaled up you will inherently get more strength in the gears.
Two stage or not it's still more efficient than belt drive.
Lastly looks like a new fan casing as well.

Yes, looks like they've built on existing stuff but to say it will have problems due to the same head is wrong, there's nothing wrong with the head, all the 600 issues have stemmed from the swashplate.

Will it be better or worse than any other 90 out there, you'll have to wait and see, it's impossible to draw conclusions from a few photos. It's a 90 and that means the majority of the people commenting here won't have one or intend buying one or in fact any other manufacturers.

In the air I saw no difference between the 600 pro and knight tail drives. both auto very closely I have a harder time getting the 600 to sing in autos tho.

what really needs to happen is a rig needs to be made. An electric motor with a main gear on it. then switchable tail drive. one using the 600 stuff, one using the knight 3d stuff. stick a strain gauge on the back end then spool it up to their running speed on the respective models. Then do a power used Vs force generated curve.

of course if you were gonna do it properly you would test all tail drives of all models :-)

its the only way this is gonna get cleared up

Will the head be programmable then??? or do we accept it flies the way they want it to?

Maybe we should ask Harry Hill whats best, belt or torque tubes, theres only one way to find out..............

Not at all, just pointing out how people are expressing disappointment yet will never own one. Bit like me saying the Lambourghini Diablo is too low to get over the speed bumps on the way to my parents house, tch, I'll never buy one now.

hehe, of course you can comment

One thing, what's with the Compass reps coming on this thread and putting it down when there's no released model yet, I could have easily spoken of a lot of pre-production issues on the Odin in the Compass 90 thread but I kept my gob shut and left it to run it's course?

On other forums there would be a lot more constructive comments rather than the negativity that's going on here? No one's even flown one yet to comment? All we got to go on are pre-production 'looks'. IMO if you are gonna slate it, don't do it with a guess as your evidence, wait till you've flown one and have factual information that's useful to us.

Align have built an excellent bast to build their models on and have slowly improved as they have gone along so why suddenly would they make something completely different when what they have is extremely popular and very good?

As Trev said, not quite sure how everyone can get on Aligns back after only a couple of pre production images, it they have put a pair of woodies on to show the blade size they'd be a group who'd say having wood blades on a 90 is a really bad idea

But at least the F1 season got off to a good start
                              Clones are bad

                              .... that includes Align ones

                                Trev,

Most of the comments above are constructive. Maybe worth listening to what people are saying about the previous Trex model ranges. These forums are where you get the public opinion of how they want the model, after all we are the ones buying it.

Did you want to start this post for everyone to go 'whooooo look at that. must have must have'. If you did, maybe you are going down the wrong road.
                                Cheers Matt
