  • Finally maidened it!

Wooo! Never had a maiden go so perfect. I'm not kidding, I literally only had to reduce the expo a little, increase the normal model headspeed and up the tail gain a fraction. I set my CC ESC gov to 2100, and it tach'ed at 2110. Really impressed!

Can't wait to fly the thing again!

    Nice one Harry.

It has a great presence in the air doesnt it.

I found I have to run 115 tail blades as there seems not to be a lot to mechanical gain. Either that or run much higher than normal tail gain. Plus 115mm Radix look cool

Cool I'll get ahold of some. One of the guys at helifreak said that too, but I thought I'd get away with it running 2100RPM. Is yours running a VBar? If so, what gain is it on in the VStabi software?

I would imagine you do get more tail authority at that headspeed but unless you need to run 2100 for certain high pitch maneuvers you could get back some flight time by running 1950/2000 ish (but it's easy to get spoiled by sheer power ).

I agree I was told by Charlie Stephens (ALeeS owner) that 2200 is the sweet spot, but I went lower to get longer flight times, and like you said, I don't need the brutal power

It must be a monster at 2200! I need to look at the Castle logs to see what I'm getting on the Rave as I upped my idle-1 throttle setting a bit and it felt pretty good. I'm curious what the peak amp draw is as well, I'm trying some really cheap 20-30C Turnigy's and they're not as punchy but they are brand new so maybe they need a few cycles to come alive.

Not sure of the exact number its at but it is just above the 90 size marker on the slider atm. That was with 105's at the weekend before I put the 115's back on it this morning as I only remembered on Sunday when at the field and the tail was pants lol so will see how it goes this weekend. I remember from last time once I put the 115's on it, it was instantly better.

Not 100% sure what headspeed I got without looking at the TC in my radio. Will check tomorrow morning.

Cool, yeah mine is at 88% at 2100 IdleUp, and 93% at 1850 Normal. I'll need to drop them about 5% or so with the larger blades?

Yea, just chuck them on and see. Do you have it set so you can change the gain through the radio? Just makes it easier to change at the field then

Yeah my 30C 3300s are good on the Fusion. Not the best no doubt but hard to beat at their price. My Rush draws ~40A hovering, most spikes at 75A and I saw one peak at 112A where I got my collective timing very wrong on a fast flip and bogged the motor

Thats not bad at all because it means a 30C 5000 pack should have plenty of juice and most of the time 20C is enough. What blades are you running on the Alees right now?

It's currently set to my idle up switch hence different gains for each condition, but I'll set it to a three way switch or a slider on the back.

Align 690 3G. Tempted to swap them for the new 700 3G blades, they look ace.
