I had not heard of them before. The general layout is quite similar to the Outrage Fusion.Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

Some serious engineering skills brought to play in that machine. Tasty indeed.Trex 450 SEV2.
Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !
Trex 550 V2. Adrenalin ( brown kind )

mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.
Several planks, gathering dust.
Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

What do you see as a potential 'con' with that head? I don't see anything wrong with the idea so long as nothing comes apart in flight.Originally posted by scallybert View PostI like the tail mechanism.
I think the 'compound' head is imaginative, but I'm not sure the cons don't outweigh its pros.Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

It's more complicated and (probably) taller than the DFC arrangement. [Though I have other issues with the DFC...] But that's not the main thing.Originally posted by trillian View PostWhat do you see as a potential 'con' with that head? My current favourite heads on 450s are the RJX ones. Mainly because the grip ball spacing is big, so there's a large velocity ratio. This results in negligible slop, a sensibly large servo travel, and reduced load on the swash to grip links.
The AleeS one uses a compound mechanism to deliver a large VR. So, you get the large servo travel [good]. However, the grip balls don't travel very far - so the effect of overall slop isn't reduced (as on the RJX); also, the additional bearings, balls, etc add the potential for slop & wear. Plus the force in the links to the grips is large.
I'm not sure what the benefit of all this is. It's certainly cute. Maybe it reduces drag.
To me it's a bit like Charley's tail pitch linkage design on the G5. At first you think it's great. Then you see the drawbacks as the (lots of) bearings wear, and you notice the thrust reaction issue. Then you see the AleeS & GAUI X2 tail, and that just seems like a much better, simpler design. If not so cute...Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...
