  • Problem running Phoenix

    Alright Guys,

I am experiencing a problem with the new version 3.0 of phoenix. I havn't used the sim for quite some time now so when I have gone to use it today it was asking me to do updates. So I went through with the updates and once it was finished the sim would not load whatsoever So I uninstalled it and started right from scratch again using the disc to upload etc...When I inserted the disc to upload again it went straight to uploading to the new 3.0 version...without asking wether or not I was just happy with the version 2.0 that I had before.

I have gone through with this update to version 3.0 but now when I click on the sim to start it goes through all the calibration processes etc then when it gets to 'finished' I click on this and the sim closes off my screen completely then when I go to start it again it wants to go through the whole transmitter/callibration process
    Can anyone help please?

    Cheers Grant.

Right click Phoenix and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

See if that fixes it first. If not try turning off the virus guard for a few minutes and see if that makes a difference.

Failing that download and install Direct X from microsoft, let me know what happens.

Sounds like a corrupted or incomplete download file
Try the Version any to 3.0m update. from the download page Phoenix model flight simulator | Downloads | Program updates

      I used mirror 3
You might well need to reinstall DirectX as well Download DirectX 9.0c (Jun 10) - FileHippo.com

To get your old version working from the CD, disable your internet connection (or unplug the cable from the router ) and then try installing again. Sounds like there is an auto update script in the installer, could of been a nice feature but it should really ask if you want to update.

I have tried all of what has been said and after spending over two hours updating to the new version etc...Nothing will work! The sim loads up but it keeps coming up on the screen 'no control profile selected' I have selected my transmitter via the 'your controls' setting and when I go through all the necessary steps it goes to finish then the whole sim shuts down and clears off my screen

          Any ideas guys?
          Cheers Grant.

            Hi Grant

We need some clues as to what is happening, normally the program will log an error to the windows event log. Hopefully this will tell us what is wrong.

I've put some links below that detail how to read the event log, have a look and see if there are any messages relating to the error. The best way to do this is note the time on the computer, then open phoenix and make it fail. Now look at the logs around the time of the failure.

Windows XP How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

In Windows Vista and Windows 7 You'll find the event viewer in Control Panel - Administrative Tools. Instructions for use are here Monitoring Event Logs in Windows Vista

Thanks alot for all your advice guys I tried all of the ideas listed above and nothing would work still. So I left it and had another crack at it today.I uninstalled my Phoenix altogther then I reinstalled it again back to the version 2.0 and I did updates via the Phoenix sim website and it seemed to work So it's all sorted now.

Yeah, some of the update downloads have been a bit hit and miss, and a right pain in the proverbial
But glad to hear you got there in the end Grant
