  • Errr, help

I've just bought Phoenix and I'm having trouble setting up the DX6i with it.
I bought it off Ebay, and there was no instruction manual with it. Assuming I need one..?

First off, when calibtrating the controls, it asks," Move the stick you with to control ENGINE on your model fully up.
I assume this is the left stick? (engine speed)

Then it asks the same of COLLECTIVE PITCH. Which one is this?

I have tried setting this up, but when it comes to fling, the left stick only switches the rotors on to one speed. Like a switch. And the right stick makes the heli lift.

Help with this is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you set the Mode to 1 servo?

So ENGINE and COLLECTIVE PITCH controls should be the same stick on Phoenix?

            Hi mate

Have a look here on how to set up the DX6i in phoenix using ACRO mode

or look here for a slightly more complex setup using HELI mode

Thanks Bolders. Just had a quick gander, and that looks like the ticket.

Just have to re-charge my batteries now Seems to chew through them using the sim...

What batts are you using. I have got some 2450mAh nimh batts in mine and they last for ages and charge in about an hour or 2. I would recommend using some nimh of the highest capacity you can find and you should find they should give you plenty of flight time between uses.

If you get any specific probs with setting up Phoenix after following those guides give me a shout and I be more than happy to help.

                Happy flying

                    Hi CRB450,

Re batteries, I have recently come across these, recommended by another member on here. Whilst they are not the highest capacity, 2100mah, they are a new type of niimh that retains its charge for up to a year, to be honest I bought these originally for my camera but am now converting over for all my rechareable applications that use AA cells.

At £10.50 for 8 delivered they are also very good value

Pico z * 2 (I know they arent 'proper' helis but they are to blame)
MCX - Got bored after a fairly short time.
MSR * 2 (my current favourite)
                    SR -as yet unflown

Thanks for the info Ewan regarding batteries, but I've already bought some Duracel 2450mAh ones off eBay. And a wall charger

Still having trouble with the Sim though.
For some reason the throttle seems to be almost digital. Its either on or off?? I will reset everything and re calibrate again today. See if I made a mistake somewhere.

I noticed the "digital" response when I started using Phoenix (all of one day here!) - I figured out it was because most of the helicopters have the "governor" set in their configuration. Once I turned off the governor, everything was more like I'm used to with my heli.
Duct tape is like the Force; it has a Dark side, a Light side, and it holds the universe (and helicopters!) together.

If you go into model edit and select the main rotor tab, you can switch off the governor mode. It's about half way down the page.
