  • blade scrapes

Inspired by busterboy's recent posted pic of his low level topiary I only recently discovered that blade scrapes were possible on phoenix.

I get the impression that its easier in the longer grass off the strip, but I'm not sure if it is actually modelled (though perhaps the fixed wings tip up at the edge of the strip? Ever flown one to see?? )
    • Unfortunately the scrape sound is not on the recording (one attached)
    • Expensively I'm going to end up trying this for real

You can get away with more on Phoenix than I've seen people do in real life.
I've not blade scraped personally - I like my heli's in one piece
IMO, it's a tad too easy in Phoenix to plant it on the head and hold it there without mangling.

Make sure you get video of your real life attempts Gordon, we all love to see a crash, erm, I mean a positive outcome!!!

    Cheers,

Personally i think flying low is cool.... a sign of complete control if you can carry the moves consistently

Scraping blades is uneccesary and asking for trouble and a crash is... well a crash.

I think the place for a first try is on a polished sportshall floor with the blades super tight in the grips!
I haven't yet trimmed the thistles at the field, they look a bit "woody". The long grass just blows out of the way.
We do have numerous "bomb holes" that I do enjoy hovering inside so I can only just see the skids sticking out
Its amusing becuase on a calm day the hole fills up with smoke and really does look like a bomb hole for some time afterwards
Actualy the bomb holes found all over the peak district are usually just quarry holes used to dig the material for the farmers stone walls.

Your not joking there, I dont know if its changed recently but I can leave my heli inverted on the grass indifinitley with the hands off the controls nowadays!

You must be a limp wristed southerner with the weather set to nil wind and no turbulence. Pobably warm and sunny too.
Get some realistic 25mph gusts in the settings!
Then open the window and let the rain lash in you face for extra realism!

I can vouch for that Gordon is definatley both of the above, perhaps a little more MAD than most.

You know what, I opened a online session a few nights ago and someone commented on it being windy cos there was 5mph breeze so I switched it off.

I fly now with 4-5mph and at least 1mpg gust - its not accurate to real life without it... quite amusing if you ramp it up to full 30mph and full gusts as well
