Nowt wrong with them Nick. Your timings are pretty spot on which enables you to keep the heli in the same spot almost. The only thing id say, and bear in mind im no expert or owt, is when your stirring the stick your not going to the full extent of travel (or are ya and the recording just doesnt show it??)

But yeah your going the right way, my first piro flips ended in many a boomstrike for me over controlling it LOL

Ok so a good few sim hours gone in since my last post and i've got to this point now

                Piro_2.pxr

Im pretty sure im getting the right idea here, Can now do a half flip and end up nose in invert hover (ok a little shaky but im getting there lol), and then the half flip out and end up in the origional position (ish), im just stuck on putting the 2 together now and completing my first proper piro

                    Re: Learning Piro Flips

I'd practice half flip - pause - half flip pause more - as long as it takes to keep it stationary. Make sure you keep altitude constant, so heli doesn't flip flop up and down like bouncing ball (it looks really bad). Other important thing is to keep disk flat (assuming no wind) at the end of the flip, when you add collective.
After you can do that consistently, do a couple of piro hovers instead of pause, this will lead to full piroflips shortly.

It took me a good couple of months to achieve what I wrote above, but I have very little fear doing piroflips on real heli because I understand what's going on. Having said that I suppose it will take me whole season and more to make them as comfortable as tail in hover
Nick video is perfect, as he says, relying on timing (meaning aping stick movement without fully understanding what is going on) will not lead to good results long term.

Well all i got to say is all the hours on the sim recently have paid off, Managed to get out for a couple packs with my 450 tonight, spent the first pack practicing Half flip then pause invert, the half flip pause right way up and on and on, And genuinly found it easier with a real heli than on the sim.
On the second pack i managed 4 -5 almost spot on complete half piro flips keeping the heli as near to stationary as i could hope for, Im so happy to actually pull this bit off

More practice with the 450 next time out definitly, Then move it up on to my Fusion 50 and get them sorted on that, Then hopefully on to the full piro flip at some point

A lot more practice has gone in recently and i am now totally confident doing half piro flips with both my 450Pro and Fusion 50

I've now been working on the sim a lot to try and get the full flip sorted and im getting there slowly, im just working on half a flip pause then the other half over and over and over again, still struggling to keep the heli still doing the full flips but im nowhere near as erratic as before, i am very pleased with the progress i've made in a fairly short space of time

                          heres a very short vid

                            Looks good mate.
Really, once your Half Piro flip are sorted, all you need to nail is inverted Piroing and put the two together. Job done
