  • Setup tips??

    Hi guys,

Just bought Phoenix and it all seems good

One question regarding it and the blade 400, as i am new to this and not sure what im doing LOL.

1, is the b400 gyro normally rate or head hold??

2, how do i get it to do 3d??

    Cheers

    Good purchase!

    1) I would say the gyro is Heading Hold
    2) Start where you're at and, in a couple of years time, with a lot of skill, even more practice and a bit of luck, you might just answer that question yourself...

LOL, thanks that was very helpful!!!

I was hoping it was rate as that seems easier to fly for some reason, not that i have a clue what either of them are LMAO!!!

The Blade 400 Gyro can be run in Rate mode or HH Joe . Pretty well everyone will tell you to run in HH though mate . Rob .

          Cool, thanks for that .

For some reason it seems more difficult to fly in HH mode, might be in the mind though.

Rate mde seems to let the tail follow the front of the heli more when banking.

I will stick at HH mode tough

          Cheers

I think what you're experincing with having the gyro in Rate mode is 'Weathervaning'... Perhaps someone can pop in and give an explanation of it?

If you're goal is to fly 3D I would personally used HH mode on the gyro as this is what you will want with a 3D heli...Stops the tail going AWOL and places you don't want it to when pulling off acro.

Ahh i see, and if im not particularly bothered with 3d for the next few years??

TBH 3d isnt in my list of accomplishments at the moment, im looking to fly it competently like a real heli then hopefully get a scale airwolf type model in the future.

              Cheers

Rate for scale... But using HH mode through stages of learning might be better - it's almost one control less to worry about as such, you learn to hover tail-in for example - with a nice locked in tail, gyro on HH mode the tail won't move unless you give stick input.

Ahh i get you, i shall stick with HH then as that seems to be the general consensus!!!

Thanks for the great info guys.

                  Cheers

                  Joe.

Oh and does anyone know how to set up the DX6i for 3d, fancy having a play on the sim with it as i cant do any damage!! LMAO

                    Hi...........

In rate mode the heli will turn in to the wind so if you are trying to hover the tail will move around and make hovering very hard as you will have to control all four controls.

In heading hold the gyro will hold the head at one point so you will find that when you come in for a hover the hel handles a bit more forgiving

I use normal flight mode with hh when hovering and then I turn to Idle up with rate mode when flying around but I like to fly scale in my sim, if I was doing 3d i would use HH all of the time.

So are you able to switch between HH and rate mode on the fly??

It seems as though both have their strengths and weaknesses!! God this is confusing lol.

                      Cheers
