Phoenix install problem

Tried to install Phoenix from my original disc don't know what version it is but bought it back in 2007, anyway it will not run on my new Windows 8.1 64bit PC. Question -- will the update V 2.0 that's available for download on this forum run on it's own or does it need Phoenix V1.xx to be installed on the PC so it can update it.

No, the files in the sticky will install 2.5, update to 3 and then the automatic updates will take over

Tried to install first files from the sticky, clicked on the Finish button but program won't run, dongle is recognised, pics show what I got.

DLL issues are normally attributed to spyware / malware removal or the file has been deleted by accident look in your recycle bin first to see if its there by mistake.

Have a look through your machine to see if you can locate it first if not you could try dll fix software like openal32.dll free download - DLL-files.com

I personally would use the manual fix or try to request the file.

Ok tried to insert a downloaded file and still no joy. Turns out there was no need to faff about as Phoenix have made it easy by providing an update file on their site for earlier versions of Phoenix ( Version 2.5 or less ) I just downloaded the zip file and unzipped it to a local folder opened the file , clicked on the manualinstaller and it just found the failed program on my PC and updated it to V5.0 and then to 5.5. Works great !

I have just tried this but Norton has removed the Manualinstaller program, saying it is unsafe. I don't know how to tell Norton that it is all right.
