Aerofly Pro Deluxe Edition Mac OSX

I finally got my hands on a copy of Aerofly Pro Deluxe for Mac...

Okay it's the latest version on the DVD as well... and it weigh's in at about 5.2 Gig!

So far it seems to be fine although setting helicopter's up right takes some doing.. or i'm missing something! Gliders are also interesting to set up and the sim does acknowledge 8 of my 12 channels on the TX but the 12FG isn't listed as compatible but it works!

You need an intel Mac and it says a 128meg GFX card.... not sure how true this is because I'm not running anything er that low, i'm getting well over 200fps with full GFX settings and anti analysing

Planes are fine, helicopters it'll help me with inverted and backwards flight.... it even has a 2 player mode split screen.. you can do Glider aerotow with your mate!

You can even download extra models/scenery off the web! there's T-rex 450's/500's and 600n and more! The chinook is interesting!

it might not be as good physics wise as others for helicopters but it does save having to reboot into Windows and means even while using the sim the Mac continue's to run other OSX programs in the back ground which is a big plus for me!

Save's 30 gig and a copy of windows running and making the windows secure....

but so far so good!!!

Ah the Bad news is the price... 129.99 BUT this version has all the expansion packs that you would buy separate for the PC version but the Mac version has all the expansions in it...

same kind of price as reflex and G4 last time I looked...

No idea what the aerofly dongle looks like but I reckon it's nothing special as there's nothing to indicate Mac only dongle... in which case it might be cheaper to buy a different version then dload the Mac version via a torrent.. NOT that I would condone that

My brother has Phoenix working on Parallels on his Mac - The new version of Aerofly is meant to be very good....... according to Ade anyway

Again I had pheonix but meant I had to have windows xp and gave 30 gig up and now I have that 30 gig back

no more bootcamp or xp for me which is the biggest bonus with this mac version of aerofly.

Disc..... I am not sure what every one means by a dongle.... when I use to run accounts software on a CPM (yeh I'm that old) it used a dongle ... a physical box plugged into the RS232.

With the Aerofly for mac.... what form does this dongle take?

The dongle is built into the USB lead that connects to your transmitter.

Did you have a problem with the jack plug that goes into the TX as my DX7 Doesn't work until you pull the plug is out nearly half way which is a real pain, I've made a spacer for it but there is a fine line between off and on. Anyone got a suggestion please?

Do you think I need to buy a slightly large jack plug or a big hammer!

Everyone is talking about joining the Tx to your Mac, but where do these leads come from? Are they "in the box" when you buy the software? I know it's a dumb question, but can't find the answer online.
(yes, I'm new to this, and eager to crash in the virtual world by preference!)

For the aerofly sims the lead is in the box (all after which version you got) but you have to find the extension for your radio. If you want superb physics go for aerofly 5 sadly Phoenix is starting to lag so many miles behind the competition so I went to realflight and aerofly 5 to get modern stuff and up to date sims. Phoenix seem to focus more on planes atm then helis.

Call midland helicopters they sell aerofly deluxe for the Mac, leads are in the Box

Aerofly is far better for planes or was and gliders and has some cool options like 2 people doing aerotow for gliders so one pilots the tug the other the glider.

helicopters are fine but the range of helicopters is very limited....

also note its more to set up than pheonix more options ;-)

but the most important thing is aerofly deluxe is native in OSX and that's why I have it.

Aerofly 5 is also Mac native. And yes the model selection is very limited, but if you are able to tweak and setup a model there you can pretty much get it to fly as the real thing best sim I tried ever but needs you to put an effort on your model. Someone close to them should smack them to deliver modern well setup helimodels as the heli physics really are fantastic

That's not a concern to me; being Mac native and being able to connect my DX7 is much more important. As a beginner pilot, it doesn't really matter what colour heli I crash!
