  • My AccuRC wont hover properly - upright or inverted

    Hi guys,
I wonder if any of you have a similar experience to me. I have mentioned this many times on forums but never had any response:
I can hover my real 600 size helis upright or inverted (just about) but I want to learn proper inverted flying. BUT, my Phoenix and my new AccuRC sims just can't hover properly. When I try to hover inverted, the model just skids over my head and zooms all over the place. It won't hover still in one spot. And it isn't my flying either. As I say I can hover the real thing but these sims just don't get it right. I can fly around and do basic aerobatics OK (loop, rolls) but does anyone else have trouble hovering accurately, with AccuRC or any other sim?

I just cannot learn to fly with it so my only option is to buy a Blade 250 or similar to practice inverted flying and hope I don't trash it too often. Do any of you relate to this??
Would love to hear from you.
    Cheers.

Are you sure you aren't over controlling it? What I mean is, if you're used to expo on your real life model, and then you go onto a sim that has little to no expo, it could be very easy to give too much stick and get caught out quickly.

The fact that it's over multiple sims makes it less likely to be a transmitter calibration issue, I would have thought, though might still be a possibility.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Thank you, bigpops. I do have some expo in my helis so I will check the sim expo settings. I get the feeling it's just me! Are you saying you can hover on a sim like you can the real model? When I flip inverted from a tail in hover, it just shoots all over the place with no chance of proper control. But I will check the settings.
      Thanks again.

never had a problem hovering in mine - I can't imagine what the problem must be - very odd that general flying around is ok though? must be something wrong in the setup somewhere I would think.

Hummingbird, You may want to arrange a multiplayer sim session with someone from this forum to go over your issue. Not sure what the status of accurc multiplayer is but it is really easy to set up a session in phoenix. Perhaps looking at your controls and the behaviour of your heli will provide some insight as to what may be wrong.

Thank you for that, This laptop won't run AccuRC very well so I put it on my i7 video editing PC where it runs fine, but that PC isn't connected to the internet! I tried installing Phoenix on this laptop (Windows 10) but it wouldn't run the setup .exe file from the CD. If I can get AccuRC to work better on this laptop - adjusting the display res in AccuRC - I'll come back and give a multiplayer session a try.
I take it you can hover upside down on your sim without any problems?
            So for now, thanks again.

My guess is the frame rate is low and so the lag between control input and response is high. I find hovering in the sim hard on my laptop too, much harder than in real life.

I've never been a great fan of sims , I also find it very artificial & still find it difficult to hover on one , I use a TV & was thinking it might be because it's a flat screen It's hard to get a feeling of depth , but they have there place , ideal for getting used to stick inputs for new moves

Sounds to me like your running the heli's on an advanced set up. I run the models very docile to what the majority are happy with as if I use the advanced set ups its a bit too sensitive so the cyclic responds to a gnat farting on my tx sticks. On phoenix go into advanced settings and tame it with the moveable disc thing. Intermediate and above is waay too sensitive for my liking.

Thank you p4ddy,I will have a look to see what setting I'm using. I don't think I am using the tame setting; I think it's set quite high. If this is what the problem is I'll let you know. Thanks again buddy.
