  • Version/Update Manager question

I've just had a look on the Accurc web site and just found this in their News section.

We have removed the download of Update Manager from the site in order to make the installation of AccuRC 1.4 simpler for new customers. Most new versions of AccuRC will come with a 1.4 DVD, however, we are aware that there are still a number of the older 1.0 DVDs in circulation. Update manager is built into version 1.4 so it no longer needs to be downloaded.

For 1.0 DVD customers please contact us via Zendesk and we will be happy to provide you with an online download of the 1.4 installer, which is a far more reliable and stress free way to get you to the latest version of the product.

Now I have a copy of the 1.0 Launch Edition and having read I wondered why don't they offer to exchange the original 1.0 discs for a copy of the latest version either for free, as a good will gesture/customer relations thing, or for a nominal fee to help cover their cost.

Thanks Kev. It just seemed to me to be an option they might have thought about offering that was all.

As 1.0v disk owners , you and I both have already upgraded to 1.4 so we have the update manager. You cannot expect a software company to send out new disks to every previous customer everytime they make a release. That is why you have the internet. If you don't have the internet you will be stuck at the latest release that is on your disk anyway at any point in the future.

I think you are missing the point here. This is a once only deal to bring the whole software package together for early adopters on to one disc. The separate Update Manager proved to be a little troublesome and time consuming hence the developers have included it with the latest version. As I tend to change/upgrade PC on too frequent a basis I like to have all my software as plug and play as possible.
What I'd like is for the developers to do is what some other sim companies do and offer a replacement disc but at a discount to V1.0 owners. And to that end I will happily send them my original disc to confirm it's V1.0 after that I'll be more than happy to update online.

            https://accurc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204132628

Ash has done an article on it on Zendesk. Looks like they wont be issuing new discs. But the online updater is being re configured to update from the original disc, so shouldnt be an issue in the near future.

Also there is no reason you couldnt burn the 1.4 download to disc after you download it. After all its the dongle that holds the security, not the software
