Normally due to overheating. Make sure there's no dust blocking the heatsinks

They need to crack on and release the 1st update to resolve that ever-growing list of issues with 'launch edition' .... I've almost given up on it until they do ... too many crashes ... some pretty hard meaning have to reboot computer

That's quite an old graphics card in that lappie so could be getting hot from dust build up as James 2k says.

If not, I'd go to the Nvidia website and update your drivers.

If it shuts down again note the time,

Reboot, click the start button and in the search box type "event veiwer" (could be event manager on older windows).

In 'event viewer local' expand the critical/error/warning section and look at the event ID for that time. Google this or post back here.

Could be Norman Antivirus!!! You mean Norton. Get that rubbish off for a start. Use microsoft security essentials - straight from microsoft and free. Unless you are on windows XP.
