In flight, the disc looks really false to me. Doesn't look like spinning blades, more like a (too opaque) flat motionless disc strapped on top of the heli. I know the raison d'ĂȘtre of AccuRC is better physical simulation, but the mind needs to be convinced too!

I would imagine the disc visibility can be adjusted as in Phoenix Tom

Maybe, but it was more the motionless nature of the disc that caught me eye - no impression of movement or dynamism whatsoever.

Looks like a release date of June was maybe a bit ambitious for them….. I wonder when they will get it ready for release? To take advantage of the hype machine they need to get their act together

I thought the rotor disc actually looked pretty good,
the only thing is it looks like the disc is for an all white blade rather than the Edge SEs which have partial carbon finish. But thats being picky & doesn't bother me.

The smoke behaviour looks great though, looks like there is real downwash going on there!
I'm pretty excited to try this.

                Tim.

Looks like phoenix but with a slightly different sound.

No blades are that visable, looks totally wrong IMHO

I'm out.....sticking with rf,rather spend my money on upgrade to rf7.

                  But good effort

I didn't get on with rf at all just didn't like it. I won't write this one off until I've tried it

Having 'a go' on any sim feels weird though Don....you need to own it yourself to adjust it to your liking to be able to see if you like it or not.

I didn't like Heathy's rf when he bought it up the field for the first time and neither did he....a few small changes to it for him and he absolutely loved it.

I'm sure he will back me up if he see's this

Agree Don! I am hopeful about this sim. The price sounds good, the idea of a wireless dongle sounds good. The interview on Rotors with the developer was actually quite interesting. I have a background in CFD from my Uni days, so the focus on physical modelling interests me.

                        on the other hand ...

(apologies for entering "geek" mode now) ... but the Turing Test springs to my mind. By that, I mean it doesn't really matter how accurately real-world physics are simulated in the compute engine if it doesn't FEEL RIGHT to the guy "flying" it. Real Flight clearly doesn't go to the same lengths as AccuRC - but to me it feels much more like a real helicopter than Phoenix. There is a risk that AccuRC simulates real-life TOO closely - and bizarrely making it FEEL unrealistic.

To give an example of what I mean here ... there was a simulator (actually a driving sim) some years ago that went to the n-th degree to make things as accurate as possible. When the beta-testers got hold of it, they all hated it! The reason was that they said it didn't FEEL like the racing cars were going fast enough. In reality, objects moved past them as they should - but in the end, physical accuracy was sacrificed to make it feel more real! (they made the modelled cars go much faster than in real life!)

And yes, sycophantic hype puts me off slightly too ...

For me any sim is first and foremost about the feel of the thing and would be willing to put up with some less refined graphics if the flight characteristics were spot on. It's impossible to gauge this all important and somewhat elusive and personal "feel" from a promo video. So guess I'll just have to spend some cash when it's available to see if it lives up to the hype for myself!
