  • Scale down under

    Hi All

Here's a link to some pictures taken at a scale meet held at the Victorian State Flying field.

    Scale heli masters - photos

Unfortunately, the wind was quite brisk, 20-30kph, so many pilots did not fly. Electric dominated then petrol and a few nitro's. The scout is scratch built including the engine. Power is 20cc petrol. I thought it was turbine powered at first.

I had 3 models. TT supercobra with mini titan mechanics (not featured), 600e AH-1S cobra firefighter and my TT A109E Power with R90 mechanics.

Unfortunately, I was the only casualty with my A109 suffering an engine failure, downwind and low level (6-8ft). I attempted to auto it, but at 6.5kgs and no altitude, the model bounced pretty badly. There were a few comments relating to scale and nitro engines after the crash and the benefits of electric. Surprisingly damage was not as serious as I expected, but the fus will require some fibreglass work and a repaint.
