Sorry to hear the news Dave , i am sure in a few days you will get back into the rebuild, you built your helicopter as a flying model (not a shelf queen) once you get into the rebuild you will start feeling better about it

I have been flying many years helicopters and crashing go hand in hand hopefully it won't be as bad as you first thought once you make a start on it ,

Go and get that tool box open dave we need more scale helicopters on here

Well a bit of an up date on todays event, the fuz is a complete write off but the rappy isnt too bad the main blades, tail boom, torq tube, and flybar and one servo horn bit the dust but as i had most of the parts its just about flying again just need to go pick up some main blades tomorrow i have chacked all the servos and the gyro and they are fine so thats put a bit of a smile back on my face

Sorry to hear that... any idea what caused you to lose the tail?

Just look at is as an opportunity to do an even better build with the new fuselage, shame you only got to see if fly for 5 mins though! did you test fly the mechanics outside of the fuse first?

hi zeeflyboy, it appears the tail linkage rod came apart and i flew the heli a few times befor it went into the fuz but the only part i never checked before putting it in was the linkage rod so lesson learned

I can identify with being deeply dissapointed. Today the engine in my much loved Blitz Avro cooked itself in flight causing a forced auto. Fortunately I got it down OK but tailrotor contact with the uneven ground chipped a couple teeth on the crown gear and I'll need to inspect the TT. But I have had such grief with this engine and I thought it was finally OK and then it ran lean and cut out, just completely unexpected, no warning at all. It is my first and last YS engine, never never again.

The Avro has been my pride and joy since I got it about a year and half ago and then this year I have had nothing but one problem after another, it has cut out three times, the first time resulting in an untidy auto which broke a brand new set of SAB blades (plus boom, TT, Crown gear etc.) This (insert most extreme curse phrase here) bloody engine has probably cost me nearly £200.00 in repairs now. And it's so so dissapointing to have this happen today after I thought everything was sorted. Now it means more work, more money and more time the Avro is grounded... again.

sorry to hear the bad news

if the front of the body is ok i would see if tt sell just the middle section of the fuselarge as they do with the md500 (i know i needed one after a bump)

having spent 5 years to scale up one of my helis (other builds etc got in the way) the model boom struck in its first comp and its 3rd flight in years so i know how it feels, but its on the bench being repaired ready for next years comp's with the aim of winning some off them

I said just the same with my OS 32 and OS 37 because I had both do what you describe thanks to the stupid screws coming either loose in one case and completely out in the other. But you know what.............the OS is a hard act to follow.

Such a pity, I have been doing a marvel craft version of this fuse in air ambulance colours with a helibug gasser. Reading your bad news has made my blood run cold for a few seconds. Loosing all that work is horrible, I hope you can get back on the scale horse again
