  • A little muffler help?

I'm working on putting a Raptor 90 nitro in a SAB fuselage. I know this isn't truly a scale project, but my query is aimed at any one who has put mechanics into a fuselage and I'm thinking the scale experts will be the ones most likely to have an answer.

So, to my query. The SAB fuselage is a generic fibreglass moulding, so is not designed to take any particular machanics fit. The raptor fits quite nicely into the body however the muffler body is very close to the inside of the fuselage. Can anyone see this being a problem? I am concerned about heat and am wondering whether it would discolour or distort the fibreglass. I have seen mufflers wrapped in some type of heatproof tape to keep the heat in and wonder whether I need to do this (what do I use?) or put some kind of heat resistant lining in that area of the fuselage. Or do i have to go down the route of buying a scale type muffler of the type century produces.

Appreciate any thoughts, comments and advice.

    Cheers

get some heat bandage that the rally cars use on their exhausts (i'm sure boy racers will rap their exhausts with it too)
rap the pipe up around were itsits close to the body
on the body stick on tin foil tape (halfords sell it) on the inside (this will stop the f/g blistering/burning)
