450 Scale

Okay when your looking at these fuses for the 450 sizes - some I know are meant for the likes of the mini titan but I'm assuming most are aimed at the Align 450 crew...

If so which 450 Align is best suited to scale ?

Which fits the fuses best and with hopefully less pain i.e. the Gggrrrhhhh factor - lol

I'm assuming that the sport is better but I might be wrong here its not my strongest discipline...

Id say the sport would be best due to servo positioning /frames etc Are you looking at a certain fuse Stu?

I have a little idea so will need to do some investigating...but dont want to buy the wrong frame if there made to fit a certain version.

hard to say but most can be modded anyways... your not gonna get one for that new 450 are you?

most of the align bodies are designed for the 450 v2 also the heliartist ones. so I woud think the 450 sport would be the best fit.(i believe the pro frame is slightly taller)

I was thinking the same Ron but so many 450 variants it seemed to me that scale bodies are maybe more suited to stacked frame.

Most are fitted using a stack of small ply blocks Stuart,so that you can adjust the head height/position accordingly,wether or not the pro will fit just using less I dont know?

I did a 450 scale a couple of years ago with a V2 It was a Heliartist Hughes 500E fuse. The way the heli mounts to the fuse is very adaptable. If the method with the newer fuse's for mounting is the same, then you shouldn't have too much of a problem with any of the 450 airframes.

It mounts in on wooden strips which you glue together, fix the heli where the skids go, then you align the heli in the frame and fix into position. Lots of options for moving the airframe into the best postion so nothing fouls the fuse.

From my experience the Pro has been by far the easiest to fit in a fuse, yes the frame sits taller but that means less packers stacked together so seemingly fewer vibes. The frame is also much narrower allowing more internal room for component placement.

Lastly and for me the biggest plus of the Pro for scale is the TT, so much easier to fit the tail back on and so long as the boom is pinned at the forward end the tail and even the TT can be removed for repair or maint with the heli still in the fuse. That is of course unless the front TT gear needs eplacing. Try changing out a tail belt on a scaler, there is the Grrrrrrr factor in all it's glory.

I have a heliartist AS350 fuselage and the mechanics I wanted to use are 3DX 450. What I discovered when trying to
fit the mechanics is that because the 3DX has the swash backwards compared to the Align Trex (the elevator servo
is in front but the anti-rotation guide is still at the rear). What happens is the top bit is not wide enough.

So my backup plan was to fit a GL450 in there, which has the same layout as the Trex, but the servos on there are
rather deep and the elevator servo sticks out too much :-(

So in this case it's not so easy unfortunately.
