  • MD500 tail brace

I have a 450 size bird that is making is way into a heliartist md500 fuse. can you remove the tail support braces or should they stay? if they are removed does the fuse act as support?

On the larger models, the boom will have a large foam ring placed around it that fits snugly inside the fuz, (and the tail boom supports have to be removed for it to fit anyway)

yep I was gonna use some pipe insulation to make a foam ring to pad the boom to the fuse, but just wondered if the boom will stay rigid enough.

I just used a piece cut out of a blade caddy, take a spare boom and push / saw it through to get the hole then mark out the outer shape around the Fuse (slightly oversized 1mm or so is good) cut control rod slot and then when your mechs are installed push the foam suuport into the end of the boom before adding the tail box.
            Cheers Dan

using a spare boom as a hole saw has worked a treat. nice clean cut and perfect fit. thanks for the idea.
