  • Trex 500 Airwolf Maiden (vid)

Took the plunge today - a bit scary when thinking about the amount of time spent on this, but what's the point of just building something if you don't fly it!

Thankfully it went well, even the retracts worked. Here is a short vid.....

    Cheers,
    Simon

Nice one Simon, great looking heli m8. How about using your keychain camera fixed to some shades or a cap for the next vid

Very nice, I have the same Airwolf fuse in my cupboard at the moment, I'm toying with the idea of installing a protos chassis into it.

Veeery nice, Simon. Lovely looking machine.

Graham - I velcroed my 808 camera to my cap last time out - got some lovely shots of the hills & sky! In a 6 minute flight, the heli is in shot for about 10 seconds.

According to the Ready-Heli head speed calculator - it would have been about 2600 as I was running between 80 and 90% at 75% stick in normal mode on that flight. On idle up one I'll be running 100,95,95,95,100 and idle up 2 will flat 100%

500's tend to prefer higher head speed, well mine do anyway!

                  Cheers,

Thanks- running 2400 now as my Castle Esc will not govern above this on the current gearing- I might need to force the issue as I'd like to try a higher headspeed.

2400 is a bit low for a 500 - 2600 to 2800 would be more usual. Do you have any problem with nodding?

Edit: - Sorry for hijacking the thread, Simon!

Lol, I know what you mean. But if you wear specs or have some shades try this method.

First I cut a small section of balsa and put a slot in it to fit over the frame of my shades. Then simply velcro the camera to the balsa.
Just make sure your pointing your head/nose at the heli and not just your eyes

                          Sorry for the hijack Simon.
