  • Heliartist Body - SEV2 or PRO?

I've acquired a Hughes body for a 450. It was being used with a V2 but when I saw it certain aspects looked awkward - belt tension checks/adjustment and also the tail servo had to go down from a 520 to 420 to fit within the tail.

I have the option to fit either my PRO into it - which doesn't have the belt issue and the tail servo is tucked away - or I can fit a V2. I know I'll have to make mountings for the PRO but that's not an issue.

To me the obvious choice is the PRO but does anyone have a counter view?

After flying both my blade 400 and trex 450 in scale bodies- hughes 500 and airwolf,,,I'd go for torque tube now rather than belt drive.

Easier to maintain and less fiddling around trying to line up everything,,
mounting should be almost the same; 2 mounts under front and rear skid area's and some circular discs for the boom, the hughes in particular had a high frequency vibe on the tail blades to took forever to solve- solution was packing out tailcase and lowering h/speed !! ,,, Stick to the heliartist stuff,
easier to fit,and very good quality..
    Also looks nicer

Thanks 3DX, that's what I thought - about the easier maintenance with the torque tube.

I'm aware of the vibration issues. Did you mount your gyro on the the floor of the heli rather than in its conventional place on the frame? Any other tips?

        Gyro mounted on floor,,
Either extend battery mount for cg purposes or glue some weight in the nose,
for some reason, they always seems to be slighty tail heavy.
Idle up is fine but don't run high s/peed- the hughes ran nicely at 80.inh.80.inh.80 and a pitch range of +/- 8 degrees- scale flying here, not banging sticks ,,

I also found using foam inserts inside along the boom keeps everything nice and smooth, I had to buy extra rare earth magnets to attach the front of the hughes canopy as the ones supplied are not really strong enough-especially in fast forward flight .

Any other vibes can usually be traced to lateral body movement within the fuselage,, I had to use 2 additional brackets either side of the main heli body to stop this..

        Have fun,,,,,

+1 for the TT Pro, I have the same setup in a MD500e fuse with 5 blade head. The Pro frame sits a little higher than the SE so less packers required. I also used 12mm neoprene pads at the mounting points to dampen vibes and the chasis is simply secured with zip ties.

Gyro mounted in normal spot with no vibration issues once shes upto speed.

I chose to run a 4s setup with 2100kv motor and 12t pinion to balance the heli and to get a nice scale HS of 1900rpm without straining the ESC any.

As said watch the HS to tail authority issue solved in my case with a heliartist 4 blade tail.

If you get the Pro running smooth as silk pre install then the vibes will be almost non existant as long as you insulate the boom with high density foam such as blade caddy material.
