  • I'm famous

Had a message from a friend congratulating me on making MHW, so had to buy the mag. Low and behold a pic of my MD500D in the index and on page 16 taken at the LHC scale day.

This was the first time I had flown the model with a new Scorpion motor and ESC. First couple of flights were a bit wobbly until I got the feel back and I was coerced into entering the comp. Sod's law struck just as I took off for the hovering manoevers with the model suffering from what appeared to be a flat battery. This was a brand new Turnigy 5000mA 6S and I had suffered similar symptoms before which I thought were due to the Align ESC originally fitted. I checked the battery and it said it was at 80%.

I tried a fresh lipo after the comp with no problems, so it seems conclusive I have a duff lipo.

Ah I remember that, yours was the one that had to run all it's fuel out. I have had a similar failure while testing someones pod 'n' boom machine and had to do the same thing, time seems to go by so slowly when you are wondering if it's going to just leave on it's own
LHC was a good day, but boy that wind upset our multiblade machines, I thought I was going to loose mine a couple of times.

            Nice one Antis

We did me once in Model world and I've followed your scale projects since,
I gathered from our conversation then that you like to make "good" scale models
            and now fame at last
            Well done!

Of course, donations to the scale pilots benevolent fund

5 blades, no flybar and it is Align (Trex600e), so it qualifies as FBL

Ah I remember that, yours was the one that had to run all it's fuel out
Darren. That was John Copeland's cobra. Remember his throttle servo failed. Nick C was calling for me and I had this horrible motor pulsing. I hovered it later with a different battery and it seemed to be ok.
The wind was not nice at all that day. Kept the pilots awake though.

Ah, sorry Buddy, now I know who you are!........must be an age thing

What speed controller do you use, because a number of them pulse the power to warn of low battery voltage and with it going away on another pack, it does sound like your first battery is either damaged or was not charged.

my 47 flew well, but got only one pic in mhw
This was due to the difficulty in getting a picture of just the machine without the ugly pilot in the way!!!! These camera lenses are fragile and not cheap you know
