Progress 12 of 20

Ive ordered other servo's for the cyclic(s9650). They are stronger and can handle the extra amps that is caused by the extra weight. An seperate UBEC is placed.

For now ive made the mainframe complete with all the wiring.
Because there is now an extra speedcontroller(for the fanlights) and also the extra UBEC
I had to adjust it.
All the wiring is now in place.
With ti wraps everything fits well and is ready to connect with the wiring in the airwolf.

I dont have the servo's yet so its take a little longer for mounting the complete mainframe into the fuse.
Its really a tight fit with the ducted fans inside but it fits.

The ducted fans are locked now in the airwolf. I used special glue to mount it.Its stays a little flexible so it can handle vibrations in flight.
Also other components that are vibrate sensitive are mounted with a flexible glue.
Ill hope I have the new servo' s next week so that I can make the final step to finish up the airwolf and can focus on the first flight.
Is gonna be a sweaty flight, believe me.......
Here the photo of the adjusted mainframe

Ive centered the mainframe into the fuse.
I had to make a little adjustments on the rear landig gear rods. They were still the original ones but they are made of carbon fibre and Its flexible, and with the weight of the heli the retracts started to going down! So Ive removed these and replaced them for metal ones. works a lot better.
And Ive adjust the wiring a little.
The holes in the bottem are made so the mainframe can be mounted now in the fuse.
But I still waiting for the new servos so I can not make the final mounting.
But here are the pictures of the progress now.

The space between the mainframe /ESC/ main gear and the ducted fan unit is 1 cm but it fits perfectly.

NOTE: The flybarless system is not installed in this picture, because in the original build I installed the fbl system at last item.

Progress 13 of 20 Wiring

Ive added labels on every wire that is out there so that I cannot make a mistake with the connections

Progress 14 of 20 Receiver lipo problem

I had a problem with the balancing of the mainframe in the fuse because the weight of the nose area is way to much. I use 1 mainlipo pack and 1 2 s lipo pack for receiver and the extras.
So when I install the 2 packs on the front of the wolf the weightbalance is not good.
So I came up with this sollution.
On the rear end under the receiver there is a space for the 2s lipo pack.
Problem with this is that I never can charge or remove the lipo when the mainframe is mounted in the fuse.
So I sawed a space in the fuse for insert the lipo through this hole.
With a extra entrancedoor with a small magnet to close it up the problem is solved.

Progress 15 of 20 Laserguns

Ive maid a plan how I would have the laserguns mounted on the fuse:
This is the idea:
First is how it is now.
second is how I want it.

I make holes in the aluminium pipe so it has more of a army weapon
The lasers will be mounted on the place where the biggest sideguns are like I said earlier.

Ive maid two pipies for placing the lasermodules inside. This pipes will be connected to the gunrods.
Ive tested the lasers in dark on the airwolf........

First pic. The pipe where the lasermodule will be placed in[/IMG]

Pic 2: Lasermodule inside the pipe. I will file it so it will be nice and smooth

the effect of the laserbeam on the airwolf:

Ive made the curved shape out of light weight aluminium

Its not much yet with this build but like I said earlier: I will show everything of the whole build. Includes the little projects on it

Ive made the holes in the pipes and the connection with the curved cover.
I have to file the rough edges but thats later on. Also I have to shorten the pipes by half. But the first part is complete
BTW: Like Wolsink said that the airwolf maybe is to heavy in the end, I can defent it:
The weightloss with the flybarless head is more then the total weight of the laserguns.
So its no problem at all. Also the upgrades on the mechanics Ive made were necessary to handle it.
Here is the pic of one gun:d

Progress 16 of 20

I said earlier that I planned to make the guns like the illustration and that had worked out very well.
The finishing of the guns I sill have to do but here are the building pics of the laserguns (left side). Other side is not complete yet.:
First Ive made the curved piece of light weight aluminium shield, when I attached the pipe in.

I sawed off the 3 gunsrods.

I needed to file the rods a little for the hollow tubes that are come over it.

The wire that leed to the lasermodule is coming out of the side of the wheelcase. This wire I push through the new lasergunshield

Little epoxyglue and a couple of heavy weight items to secure the connections. And dry for half an hour.

And voila..the new lasergun is mounted on the fuse:

Well now, the laserguns are finished (decials and details coming later).
Here is the total view and a short movie (no sound) how I activate the lasers.(through a switch on the radio)
The right laser is a less bright then the left one. But I can adjust the brightness of the laser so that will be no problem fixing it.
BTW its only the fuselage on the pics.

To be continued....

The video of the final system will be her shortly. And the maiden flight.
But first I have to repair the retractsservo.(Its broken because of a stupid mistake

Progress 19 and 20 will be the final videos and maiden flight

Hope you like it so far....

wow! damn nice work! all these for a 500 size?? i'm impressed! definitely would have been easier for you if this was on a 700 size but you chose a 500!
can't wait for the finish!!!

re

With a 700 size I would put stuff in in that will be off the limit. Maybe next time

Here's a video with the cockpit lighting:
