  • Make up on Helicopters!

I know it's not a proper scale heli, but i wanted to share what a massive improvement i made to the very shiny and toy like body of the Blade Huey.
I coated it in a ultra matt water based varnish and then used a pencil and a brow eyeliner pencil to add some aging to it.
I'm very pleased with the results!
Looks so much better that it did before.
I'm going to try more black eyeliner next!
Maybe i've discovered a whole new easy way. Make up on helicopters!
Sorry about the sideways pictures. No idea how that happened.
    Bit like my flying!

Great result - very convincing and looks much better aged.

The ultra Matt varnish makes a massive difference and a great base for smudging colour on.

The weather is really annoying me! I didn't get enough practice in before winter so i'm still very new. The SRX is very easy to fly, but if something goes wrong you still need skill. That's what i found on my last outing.
I'm a long way off taking the Huey up.

Finally put the 230s into the old Blade SR Huey body. I painted the stock rotor blades with BBQ spray paint. Looks great. I hope it flys!

that's so much better than mine.
Did you just do a better job or did you use some clever trick?

The tail rotor is 3D-printed and has a diameter of 110 mm (as with the Huey in the scale). Fly without problems.

                              That looks fantastic.
I just took mine out for a fly. It was going really well, but for some reason even though i've been flying the 230s for a year with no crashes i found myself all out of sorts and had a weird landing. The front flew off and got smashed by the rotors.
I'm really annoyed with myself for many reasons.
                              It was too windy.
I thought about securing the front on better but didn't bother.
Also for some reason i thought it would be better to fly in Normal mode instead of idle up and i kept switching between them and i think i confused myself as to which mode i was in!
                              Feeling very annoyed and stupid.
                              I can't find a replacement body either.
