  • Flexable Torque drive.

I'm a new member here, looks like a great site.

Has anybody had any dealings with a flexable torque tube drive. I have a 600 size fuselage I intend to fit a 550 trex dfc. The fuse came with the flexable drive and no instructions.
I have put a Heliartist fuse on a 450 Trex clone but that came with every thing needed. I can't see how a flexie drive would hold together.

I guess nobody uses a flexable tail drive.

The only flexi drives I have seen suit particular mechanics such as Vario etc.I would assume you would have to produce your own adapter of some sort to fit the 550 frame/tail drive..?

Is it just a heli with a tail that goes up at an angle and the flexi bit is just for the angle joint?

The person to ask is probably electricsceadu

I have an old Kalt with a piano wire tail drive but I suspect that's not the same kind of thing

I gave up on the flexiable torque drive and used a heliartist angle gearbox. Had to make up the torque drive shafts and the booms to fit the fuse ( with a lot of help from my friend ) Replaced all the plastic gears with metal. She's now ready for a test flight, then strip it all down again to fit in the fuse.

Test flight went well, run four batteries steady hovering. I've checked all over to see if anything has worked lose. If the rain stops I'll try a few circuits this afternoon.

Thanks for the wecome. The fuse is a EC145 600 size from sportsmoto in Hong Kong. The heli is a Trex 600 cf with a 600 dfc head and a beastx flybarless unit. I flew a few circiuts but I had such a problem with orientation, the whole thing is black, I gave up. I'm going to put some white skids on and brighten up the tail and try again. Pictures, I hope, of the work my mate Paul has done to make the tail work. The bell crank pivoted on the bottom screw on the original.

Flexi drives are a pain in the arse unless its fitted properly I have one in my cobra that took some sorting out and I don't like the fact that there is flex in the gearbox but it works fine the mechanics are old Xcell ones

I've fited the mechanics into the fuse and went to to the flying field. didn't get of the ground because of vibration. The tail box is just touching so I have to repostion by about 1 mm. A few pics before I take it apart again.
