  • Align A109 fuselage for T-Rex450 Retracts issue

    Hi All,

I'm after a bit of help!

I have put a 450 Pro into an Align A109 fibreglass fuselage. The retracts are terrible quality and on only its 2nd flight it got into a death shake on spool down resulting in 2 broken blades and a fractured tail section for me to repair, along with 2 stripped servo's, 2 blades etc etc

Does anyone know of any better solutions so the flimsy plastic one's supplied in the Align kit?

I've done quite a bit of searching and not come up with much. The nose wheel is not to bad to deal with, it's the two side one's that are mounted in the sponsons on the side that are a little more tricky and tight for space.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated..

    Many thanks,
    Mark

there is a version of the full size agusta that has skids on it
and would be more practical than the flimsy retracts on the kit

You could try here airwolf rc helicopter cncn alloy retract system for 450 and 500 size sportsmoto.
They are out of stock at the moment but could be worth a call.

          Thanks for the link.

It looks like there is a difference between the Align and the HeliArtist kits as the Align one uses separate servo's for the front and rear retracts. I'll drop them an email and see if they can help!

I just did an Agusta 500 shell over a Trex 500, I think it was the Align shell. Had a servo for the front retract and a single servo mid-frame for the two rear ones. I can't imagine not using seperate servos.
The retracts were shocking quality plastic things and after two evenings of trying to get them to operate smoothly and lock positively, I gave up and glued them solid with hot glue.
Must be very fiddly trying to do it on a 450 size - good luck!
