Hi all I have just managed to get hold of a 1970s Morley Bell 47g
it needs a bit of work doing to it
one of the first things I want to do is fit new servos and receiver
my question is which receiver do I go for
it as an Irvine 40 engine if this makes any difference to which servo I need
also the engine has no glow plug and hasn't been run for over 8 years so I might need a new engine but again there are so many to chose from
    hellllllllllpppppppppp

I would try a new glow plug first before forking out for a new engine.
Servo wise you should be ok with any standard size servo for a 30 size heli,Align ds610 etc.
Look on the classifieds here as there is always a bargain or two to be had (Maj has got a great price £99 for 3 Savox at the moment, tempted myself).
With a receiver it depends on which Radio TX you are using.
    Cheers

You should then be ok with an 6 channel receiver from Spektrum.
Can be picked up used for around £20-30 on here or BMFA site.

Mine flies fine on a very old Super-Tigre 40 - more than enough power. Many people flew them on Irvine 36s! Irvine engines were pretty solid, so unless the bearings are knackered (cheap and easy to replace), just flush it through with fresh fuel, fit a new plug (recommend OS no8) and fire it up! Might be worth blowing through the carb with some WD-40, just to wash any congealed lumps out.

I just use basic cheapo JR servos (591s). It really doesn't need anything fancier. The Morleys all fly quite nicely, but spares are hard to come by.

            Cheers,
            Pete

i found that the crank length was a little short on the 30 class motors
that why i used either a 40 size plank motor or the os46/50

I'd stick with the Spektrum 610.
I think the other one is for planks with flight stabilizer.

It's a thread on what receivers and servo's to use.

I'd lose the floats - they kill the lift! If you must use them, leave them a bit flat. If you blow them up too hard, it will bounce all over the county.......!!!
