I have just fitted my 450 pro into a heliartist 500D fuse and it was fairly painless if I'm honest. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1389956066.663190.jpg
It is however VERY tail heavy ! Is this normal ? And short of filling the lid with lead I'm not sure what else to do. I can't bring the airframe any further forward and the esc and lipo are as far forward as I can get them.

    Ideas ??

    Hi Don,

I think this is quite a common problem, I certainly found it with my Bk 105. Rather than add dead ballast, I put a 2500 3cell pack as far forward as I could which helped.
If you are thinking of going multi blade, you might want to look at a 4cell packs and drop a tooth or two on the pinion so as to keep the temps down.

    Nice heli mate. Cheers, Marty

Sticking weight up front is pretty much the only option Don isn't it then? Either that or just trim the heli to compensate as you're not going to be throwing it around as normal.

      Looks good though.

I realised as I pressed send that you probably would be throwing it around!! Weight up front it is then, will a bigger pack help?

Fitting a scale body will add weight and reduce flight time so adding more weight will reduce flight time even more so for me the only option is to fit larger battery .

(when i fitted airwolf body to my 500 i went from 3000mah to 5000mah instead of adding weight and kept the same flight times )

I will prolly just weight it at the front, I don't want to buy more packs but I do have a lil scorpy 2221-10 which is a 4s motor sat in my boxabits

stick weights in to blalance it and work out the weight needed then cut that amount off a chilled spare lipo and a bit of duct tape over the cut end and wire in series.... or anyway it'd be fun to see someone else do that...

I must say it looks handsome in it's crush bubble

Ok so I flew it for the first time today, I did not add any weight to the canopy as I was worried the extra weight would be too much for the magnetic mounts.
It hovered on the spot albeit very twitchy so I dialled in 30% expo on the cyclics which made it more manageable. I can only assume the vbar took care of the cog as it flew surprisingly well. It tracked perfectly and was quite predictable in circuits and loops etc however it did not like piro manoeuvres in forward flight and would blow out 180 degrees under pressure and it ImageUploadedByTapatalk1390156165.130793.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1390156184.798487.jpgbehaved very similar to the scale models on Phoenix sim
It was probably the huge tail fin that was fighting the tail inputs. I think there are a few tweaks I can make to improve things but guess who installed the airframe without thinking of fbl adjustment lol. It means I will need to remove it again or possibly dremmel a hole in the top of the fuse to let me plug the control panel in. Bigger tail blades may be needed too

I was surprised how much I enjoyed flying it especially fast banked circuits I think I will prolly crash it before I get bored but either won't be too far away
