My finished MD530 build - Raptor 50 mechanics

Thought I'd upload a picture of my finished MD530 build - it's my first kit build helicopter and I think it's come out quite well.

It's got Raptor 50 mechanics in, TT53 engine (OS carb) and it has been test flown once and now she's been put away for the winter.

I fitted a cheap LED lighting kit - unfortunately not very bright so I'll make sure I don't do it cheap next time! LEDs are fitted in the skid pipes and ran through to the cabin.

Anyway - it proves even a novice can assemble these kits!

This took me probably 10 hours to assemble in all, as I did a few extra bits that the kit didn't include.

For example, I routed the exhaust out of the scale exhaust, using some 1/4" heater hose from Halfords. I also faffed with the LED kit.

I am aiming to learn to fly properly before I give my scale models a lot of airtime. I love building them, but don't have the b*lls to fly them yet! Got my 600N, raptor and shuttles to learn with, but unfortunately I just don't seem to get much time to fly - and when I do the weather is naff!

Pick up an mCPX BL and you can practise anywhere, any time.

It will very quickly teach you to fly CP heli's and get you feeling confident. Heck you could even pick up the redbull 130x if you wanted.

The mCPX unlocked heli's for me personally. I could practise in the garden, and it was quiet too so didn't need to worry about annoying anyone. Crash? As long as you hit throttle hold just pick it up, quick check over, fly again.

Seriously... If time is limited then it is absolutely the best way for you to progress IMO.
