    Well,
finally got a Bell 222 on its way, been looking for one for a while .I will be using a Turnigy 500 .1650 kv brushless motor on 6s a123,s as i think battery access may be difficult ,
    next on the list a 47g or a R22< but don,t tell my wife?>
    cheers Euan

    Hi euan

I have one of those Century Bell 222's, mine is in the more common red/yellow/white colour scheme, and OS37 powered. Recently flew it on a nice bit of old tarmac road i found near you (south church)

Do you know it? I used to live in Bishop Auckland but now live a few miles away

Keep us informed about your build mate,,,just so happens I "found" a Kyosho Bell 222 fuselage that was buried in my attic on thursday !,,,,,,, My wife said's it's old age creeping up on me and too many models

I got it from ebay around 4 yrs ago with the idea of doing scale flying,,,,
Originally for the Concept 30 and made out of what looks like the plastic used for washing up liquid bottles but obviously a lot thicker. Don't think I can get away on say a trex 500 but I reckon a trex 600e or similar will do.

Hello if its the nice bit at the Bracks farm roundabout then yes , and only a 2 min walk from my house, be aware though that the farmer is a bit anti helis at the moment as his horses are about to have little horses.I have an alternative concrete runway on the outskirts of Barnard castle that is available ,drop me a pm and i will give you a contact number.
I had one of the Concept 222 a few years ago flew well but was a pain to paint<kept peeling off> good thing is people pay a lot for an original vintage kyosho body?.I will post further details and photos later in the week,
        cheers Euan.

          Hello,
Due to a rough journey from Kent i spent several hours giving the 222 a nose job? had to get some paint mixed up to match but it looks as good as new.My first problem with electrifying it is battery access , i may have to cut a hatch inbetween the main frames and stick it in that .The battery will fit and be out of sight and will be in fresh air so no cooling issues. My 1600 kv motor arrived and i will attempt to turn up an adaptor tomorrow<just in case i picked up an OS 32> so see how it goes?.THe paint job is superb and far better than i expected it even has working nav lights. This particular set of Hawk mechanics is blinged up with lots of fancy ali bits, fan, gyro mount main frames etc.
          some photos,
          cheers Euan.

            Hello,
not much done today as work got in the way?and a Md530 took my mind off the 222,I have got hold of a 6s pack of 123 cells that can be left in the model for charging but will not have the duration or oomph of the lipos so this may be the option i go for.A friend has taken away my clutch as he was not impressed with my machining talents/ more runout than an old ford?
hope to post photos of motor mount when i have painted it as it looks a bit rough at the mo,
            cheers Euan.

              Hello,
After being tempted over to the dark side by a raptor 50 ,iam back to completing the electric conversion .My mate Jim has done a great job of machining an adaptor shaft from silver steel that has a shoulder for the clutch to locate on.The shaft is long enough to include the cooling fan<should you live in a hot place?> but i will fit a lock nut and cut it down.My longranger has a similar set up and shows no signs of overheating.Next job is the fabrication of a motor mount and ordering a suitable esc,
              cheers Euan.

                Hello,
well its flown both as an electric conversion and now converted back to OS 32 power, the electric motor was really struggling with the increased weight <8 and a half lbs> and after 10 mins it went into meltdown??The same motor has no problems with my longranger but it weighs only 6lbs.The os32 powers it in a very scale manner and it is mega stable but the auto capabilities are poor<maybe have to use some high lift undercambered blades?>iam using rototech 530 carbons as i had a pair in the bits drawer.Radio used is four Hextronic bb metal geared servos a standard sanwa and a JR 490 gyro all on specky 2.4.Got to admit its cool flicking the retract switch ,
                cheers Euan.

It looks really good in the air. That's unfortunate about the electric conversion. 8 lbs isn't too bad but it's definitely 50 size in weight terms.

                      Trillian,
I have just been out testing my longranger with a 6s lipo and some lead weight attached to the skids, power is far better and it climbs away with ease, amps have dropped so will be kinder to my esc? i have ordered a new motor so should be flying early next week.Mike thanks for the comments ,
                      cheers Euan.
ps i had the all up weight of the Longranger at 8lbs with added lead
