  • Retract Problem

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone can throw any light on my problem. I have a Bell 222 fitted with Trex 600E stock mechanics. The retract servo's are Hitec HS 85 MG's connected to an xtra servo slow with one reversed using a servo reverser. They are connected to the radio AR7000 using the gear channel. Now the problem, they work fine for about 6 or 7 minutes and then the servo's seem to stutter and all 3 move up and down with a jerky movement. Turn of the reg, leave for a few mins and the cycle repeats itself??
I have tried only connecting one servo to the servo slow but the same happens after a few mins again.
    Any ideas??
    Cheers

give it a try without the servo slow, perhaps this is what is causing the problem?

I'm not saying its a battery issue in this case but worth checking.

Retracts are notorius for binding if not set 100% the slightest bump can knock them out of kilter. For that very reason it's wise to run them from a seperate battery pack from the flight pack which is what a lot of plank flyers do.

      Worth a check?

            Hi pjtyros,
Did the SM services servo slow cure your problem...
Since changing my Augusta 109 over to a Spektrum AR9000 Rx (from JR 35Mhz) I am having a very similar problem.... using the servo slow on 2 RX outputs one for nose leg and other y leaded for mains I get a jittering of the servos (enough to unlock the mains) when down ... not good for landing !!!...

Retract servos are also powered by separate battery.

However if I unplug one of the leads to the Rx from the servo slow it works fine, seems like there is some incompatability somewhere.

            Regards... Paul

Hi, Yes I changed all the bits to SM Services, servo slow, servo reverser and used their battery thingy so that the retracts are powered seperatly to the heli. It all now works ok.
              Cheers

                Hi Pjtyros

Could you let me know the spec of what you servo slow, reverser and battery thing you got...as I have a Century Bell 222 to build (don't laugh) and I will likely have the same issue as you!

Thanks in advance for your help.

                regards

                  Hi Brewber,
Here is a link to SM services, they are great guys and will talk you through any problems you may have.
I used the SM24 servo slow, the SM17 auxillary battery unit and the SM29 servo reverser.

                  Hope this helps.
