Century/Funkey 50 size electric Airwolf project

I am looking to start a scale build of a Century 50 size Airwolf, but i would like to make it electric for ease of maintainance and for a more scale sound, as i cant afford a Turbine!

Would anyone have any recommendations on what mechanics to use, which would be the the best compromise between price and reliabiliy?

This will be a long term project as i am not made of money, but the end result will be spot on so good reliable parts will be a must to minimise the risk of and accidents!

I had a Raptor 30 years ago and am looking to get back into the hobby, and i am currently re learning on a small electric machine, and while i regain my confidence i will be carrying out this build.

Any help would be appreciated.

Someone on here put a T-rex 600 into a century / funkey airwolf fuz so the 600e sounds like the best bet for cost and conveniance

The Trex 600e is probably the most cost effective electric heli to install in the airwolf body, you can find quite a few of them on youtube.

The nitro fits fine but the exhaust is the problem, they just wont fit, the retract unit gets in the way, so you need to fit a much shorter exhaust. But can be done.

Electric is far nicer and less messy

And thats why Align only do the Hughes 500!

Maxpoly do the T-rex 600e batteries for around 130-140 pounds for it....

optifuel 30% 4 bottles of 30% is 130 pounds as well....

Depends unpon your point of view cost wise

In the latest RotorWorld magazine there's an article where a Century Jet Ranger fuz is fitted to a TREX 600E, albeit with a few minor mods. Looked the business and I would imagine that the electric power source will make for a much nicer sound and cleaner appearance for a scale heli. It's certainly not the sort of flying where you'll need heaps of power for 3D, just nice smooth, reliable power. It's certainly something I could aspire to, but such an undertaking won't be cheap!

Yes i saw that, it does look good, if a good second hand t rex comes up i may be interested, but the fuselage must be new as it is going to be highly detailed

...then check out the BMFA ads web site: always a 600E or similar on there. There's even a Raptor 620E which looks too nice for the job.

I'm wondering if scale fuselages of the same quality can be sourced for a TREX 500. Some small savings to be had there in terms of batteries (just a bit) and overall construction especially if you can get a second hand GF model. Maybe not enough to make it worthwhile, but it's horses for courses, I guess.

No they only do the Airwolf body for the 500 at the moment.....

I bought some Zippy Rhino 4900mah batteries for my Trex600e from hobbycity.com for £90 each, the dollar rate is not good but it is still cheaper than buying your batteries here.
I am also near to you, I am in Eastbourne.
