    Hi Mark,

    Here's Steve's response.

"We do not want to list specific set ups or, better combination of equipment used simply due to the variable that it happened in some cases but not all which could possibly lead to more confusion.
In the best interest of your model & safety we would rather get this taken care of properly & not leave anything to chance. "

    Cheers

    Chris

      Thanks for asking Chris.

The only safe interpretation of the answer would seem to be 'don't use the ESC until it has been updated' since they prefer not to give any details that would help an owner determine if their particular planned usage is safe.

Good that they seem to have got a fix at last, just have to hope it doesn't take long before the new units are in channel.

That is surely how it would be interpreted!!

How can they say some set ups will cause it but we are not going to tell you which ones

In other words its nothing to do with set up but the inferior products we put in our esc's!!!

Hi Mark, Thanks for your comments yes I think thats an accurate interpretation. I know castle are working very hard behind the scenes to make this as quick as possible. As soon as we recieve full details we will be posting them on here.

Ben with you it seems to be your dammed if you do and your dammed if you dont. So here's my one and only statement to you as It probably wont matter what I say, feel free to have the last word :-).

Castle has issued an advisory, that advisory contains a product recall It's very clear already that there are many conditions and setups out there where the controller doesnt fail otherwise the failure rate would be much higher than 3%. But as we have already seen there is no point trying to convince you of this as Castle have tried doing that in the past and you dont believe it. Now that they have identified a specific issue which they believe is responsible for the failures they are taking action and doing a recall. I think its the right course of action and very responsible.

          Cheers

          Chris

Its got nothing to do with who gets the last word lol

It's the fact that for the last 6months or more there have been many reports of fires and CC have done nothing for all this time and even denied there is a problem. Yet again a manufacturer in this hobby thinks it's ok to have an inferior product in the Market place. Credit to you guys as I have heard you replace the faulty units but that does not change the fact that the product finds itself in the position it does now. I think there rep has been damaged to a point where it is going to take a long time to repair.

This is my opinion on the hv esc's only as the lv range seems to have no issue. Agree they are now doing the right thing but who's to say the v3 is gonna be any good, thought the v2 was sposed to be a solution??

If they think they got it bad here then it's a good idea not to look on the freak

Ok guys a bit of general advise on speed controlers.

Make all the cables as short as practical
This helps reduce the thermal losses by the excess cable heating and secondly probably more important it reduces the impedance of the cable between battery and the speed controller and also its mutal inductance. This then reduces the back emf caused by the effects of the bridge chopping DC into 3phase AC its like improving the capacitors.

Use a higher voltage rather than a higher capacity battery.
This will reduce the current to the motor and the switching losses. this will give you a better performance overall.

Make sure the speed controller is as far away from the rx as it will go.
Its the one thing that makes a lot of electrical noise keep it away from the rx and you will get more signal and less noise its not as important with 2.4G but its wise.

Use a ferrite ring on the controller input.
If its making a noise keep it in the contoller noise is amply capable of wandering down wireing a little ferrite ring will prevent esc noise from getting to the rx an rx noise from getting to ESC.

Just a few pointers that will help instalation problems.
