  • Help required with raptor nodding issue

Hi guys thanks for hosting such a great site

    http://youtu.be/ZkUQIQIhl5g

above is a link to a video I took showing the nodding raptor I have.
    more info

just fitted a flybarless head that I got from a chap on eBay (can't find the thunder tiger ones for love nor money in the stores)
anyhoo I fitted the head with out issue and hooked up the servos to a AR7200bx I have 5 other helis all with the same beast x reaciver and have so far not had an issue.
the one thing I never did was check the feathering shaft but I was hoping you guys might have seen this type of issue before and let me know what you think.
    thanks for any replys

I guess this is more uncommon than I first thought
im going to replace the feathering shaft and replace the dampeners for stiffer one and see if that makes any difference
    regards

I would think that is a mechanical issue with the heli, probably a bent main or feathering shaft, or something causing imbalance in the head.

Nodding is a term normally used for a gentle oscillation in the elevator axis, and is caused by the FBL being under or over gained, depending how fast the oscillation is.

I would do as you have already suggested and check the shafts and also the head itself, especially as its and ebay purchase...!

Thanks for the feed back Steve.
the main shaft is brand new but I will swap out the fathering shaft and see if it makes a diferance.
        thanks again

Raptors, certainly the flybarred version were very prone to nodding similar to that with a hard damper/low headspeed combination, what headspeed are you running there?

That's definitely a vibration in the head! I had the exact same thing on my old gaui 425 and that was caused by a very slightly bent head block.

                Never did get it fixed
so I bought the FBL X50 which is really good but they are sadly no longer supporting it and spares are getting hard to find so I had to jump shop and go with Align.
                nevel looked back.
