  • Some advice on the Raptor 30 FBL Conversion

So there are the questions. Can anyone can help I would be grateful

I am thinking of converting my current Raptor 30v2 to a FBL using the TT FBL Conversion Kit. Whats not clear is the following:

The kit comes without the swash plate from what I have read so far it seems to utilise the current swash plate.

If this is true (and I am not saying it isn't) then I would assume the current gyro (4-axis) would remain or would this have to be changed also?

I cannot for the life of me work out how a 3-axis gyro common on FBLs would work in the conversion using a 4 axis swash plate

    Any advice?

Hi I did this conversion last year. Works really well and I have since also converted my Raptor 50.
The conversion does use the existing swash plate with no alterations, in fact the only thing that changes is the length of the linkages!
Regarding the Gyro, your current gyro is (guessing) just for heading hold, keeping the tail steady? Your Tx is probably set to 1 servo normal? This is because Raptors have a mechanical collective pitch management (mcpm) setup.
Whichever FBL unit you choose (I use a VX1N) this controls all axis, the setup in your Tx remains as 1 servo normal and the unit controls the appropriate servos accordingly!
Hope this helps and that the information is correct? But that is my understanding of it?
you will find a picture of mine in the thread show us your rappy!
Let us know how you get on.

      Hi Sheldrake

Thanks for the prompt reply it helped!

Will start thinking about the conversion as we speak! The gyro currently used is the Ace RC TG7000 which I guess is the stock head holding type so from what your saying its a straight swap out of the main rotor head I would tend to want to swap this out for either a Horizon AR7200BX flybarless controller or the VX1N

Yep am a pain (so what else is new!)

I use the TT conversion head, good quality but slightly expensive, remember to check it has been loctited (ask me how I know)!

Hi again, I actually have the HK FBL head by RJX it is brand new in bags as it comes from HK!
i ordered it and by the time it arrived four months later I had given up and bought the TT one!
cost me more than £37 though after adding tax and postal handling fees?
PM me if you are interested in a deal?
