steve painting my raptor 50!

just thought i would put some photo's of steve painting my raptor 50 its not complete yet but it pritty close thanks steve i know its keeping the boredam away tho!!! nice bright colours dont you think?

I want to get away from the std Raptor graphics myself. Dayglo is a favourite choice right now.
Will Steve do my canopy & fins?

Looking good. Thats what I like to see, painting in the kitchen with a smoke hanging out your gob. (ddracer school of painting) What primer did you use on the plastic canopy?

auto air apparently ???? means nothing to me lol

yeah just prepped the canopy

removed decal's
scrubbed like buggery in the kitchen sink to remove fuel residue (dont tell the wife )
dried off then inspected
rubbed down with 800 wet/dry just to smooth off some imperfections in the plastic
scrubbed and dried again
shot on an auto air white working in quaters (top,bottom,left and right)
then the createx range of dayglo's yellow first all over but more concentrated in the middle then the orange at the front then finaly the green

boxy originally wanted a dayglo purple at the rear but after shooting some orange/yellow/purple onto some paper it just did'nt look right so went with the green

i think it came out really well but the next part is a little more tricky so gonna shoot some halfords clear laquer on first then give it time to dry, mask off the air intake's either side along with the conopy rim an shoot some black on them bit more laquer after that let it dry and its back to boxy

yes mate other wise it would'nt of been in the gob lol
plus i only use water based paints in the house

so you took my comment while chatting last weekend about dayglo seriously then Certainly it will be great for orientation, it will also look a great deal better than mine

p.s. did you get phoenix up and running with the disk I gave you?

yes mate all up and running, dayglow all the way! i did think of stickers but hay when you have a bored mate with a air gun what can you do? hovering is coming along nicely. tail in side on i can do nose in is proving a little challenging, but i can almost do 8's bring back to hover and land tho so getting there..

lol dont think i will put pics of the cp canopy up as it was my first go at airbrushing its noy bad but no-where near as good as the rappy canopy i done for you boxy

i would be happy to do more canopys once i have mastered a few more tecniques

just give me a bit of time to practise guys

update after trying to tape off the under canopy section for black witch went fine. on demasking steve stripped off the under coats of the other colours and has had to start again take two steve lol.
