  • Forum Rules

I was going to leave this for another time...but I feel some fires are brewing so I hope cover the rules before anyone get's ideas.

These are the rules ALL members agreed to when signing up.

    Forum Rules
Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please check the 'I agree' checkbox and press the 'Register' button below. If you would like to cancel the registration, click here to return to the forums index.

Although the administrators and moderators of RcHeliaddict will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of RcHeliaddict, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

I would like to point out also this does inc PM's so if I get PM's forwarded to me that are way OTT then I will boot people out or put them in there own corner like school kids to sort out there differences.

This place is not a ego base for people to pop at each other. A prime example was Daniels thread where in my view people turned deaf and started just repeating themselves.

There are fans of Align / Mikado / Aurrora / Outrage / Futaba / Spektrum the list is endless - respect the fact that its a democracy and everyone is entitled to an opinion you might NOT agree with it but tough - move on and stop the warrior mouthing off.

Its a hobby - not life and death scenarios - if you need an ego trip goto RR.

    Cheers
    Stuart

Problem is the people with the inflated egos will read that as refering to everyone except themselves unfortunately, as they simply dont see what everyone else sees.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

No-one should be drifting into the background or ever feel that they can't or shouldn't comment I'm just asking people to remember what they agreed too and that to be perfectly honest I have to take some responsibility for some behaviour that hasn't been stopped before now - its a place for all and everyone has a right to express it within the rules.

Can't say I've really noticed a problem to be honest these forums are very well behaved.

Sorry to post this questionative / constructive criticism post but I guess stu started the thread to warn us all, and then encouraged feedback so rather than dissapear into the background, here is mine.

The thread stu refferred to is a prime example of getting a bit out of hand and as soon as poeple started throwing words like "fanboy" around it was always going to go wonky after that.

One thing that does tend to get peoples backs up though (speaking as someone who used to be a forum admin on a large forum, and is also is now a simple "peon" on many differnt forums, is if someone gets banned without much explanation. Eg - and I don't wish to stir any more up here but the Mikado loving guy that got a bit upset after people seemed to discount Mikado helis as not being able to win championships and then was called a fanboy - his banning seems a bit harsh. He was provoked somewhat in that thread and unless there was a lot more going on there than we all saw (e.g nasty PM's) I can't really see a reason for a ban - just a warning would do?

Of course we know rules is rules but in my experience when people get banned with little or no explanation and any threads questioning it get locked etc things get a bit less friendly quickly. A simple - "he was banned for abusive private messages" or the like is all that is needed to keep transparancy and friendlyness whilst keeping rules enforced.

              Cheers

That really is a must, if things arnt out in the open then all we can do is wonder, and to be honest, calling someone a fanboy isnt an insult really, I can think of far better ones.... and like you say, there is usually things going on in the background, in PM's or in person at the club/s, that other people reading a thread simply wont know about, sometimes things that have been simmering for a very long time can just boil over on the forums when someone says something just the right way to set the other person off.... then all hell breaks loose.

Seen it pleanty of times on many forums, people watching a discussion go south forget that what is said on forums is only that, what is said on the forum, there are pleanty of cases where its based on something in "real life" that they simply dont know about, so only get half the picture, if that.

Just how it is unfortunately, especially since many people know each other on and off the forums.

Well i think some things you should just trust us with... some people dont want things in the open for a valid reason. If it doesnt concern yourself then why get involved or want to know? Nobody gets banned on here for nothing, put it that way. When insults start flying (in PM's or EVEN not directly at someone when we all know who its directed at really) then people are going to be warned or possibly banned (worst case scenario) simple as that. We all agreed to rules on registering and this was a good time for Stuart to remind us all. Time they were obeyed TBH.

"you will not post any messages that are...sexually-oriented"

Oops! No more five-knuckle-shuffle gags from me then.

I agree with both Stuart and Lee here. All forums I've been involved with over the years seem to go through a cyclic downturn, when arguments flare up, people get bent out of shape about things and the whole atmosphere takes a bit of a dive. But things always get better...until the next cycle.

We should trust the management of this site to do what they think is right on our behalf. After all, when it boils right down to it, this is their forum. They don't have to put all the time and effort into keeping it going that they do. Furthermore, they do not have to run it in a "management by committee" style, a style that so often fails.

Let them do what they do so well and let's all work towards keeping this place the fun, light hearted, generous to a fault community that it is.

I've met Stuart and Lee (and Tony) a couple of times and get on well with them. They are great guys.
One thing I know is that they are very even handed.
If someone gets banned from this forum you can be certain it was a last resort and something very bad went on somewhere.
I'm happy to leave them to get on with their unenviable task of running this forum (considering some of the attitudes we see on here now and then )

                      Good luck to them
                      Cheers,

I feel I ought to put in my 0.05p worth here - The biggest mostly male dominated Rt Honourable and Honourable members club in the country i.e. our Parliament has a "Speaker" who calms things down when the atmosphere gets hot. If such an institute needs a moderator what's wrong with our RCHA?

A quote springs to mind - "Freedom without limits is Anarchy"

& done that & at the end of it, all you feel is
embarrassed & want to run away & hide.
Lately I've taken a different approach to other peoples
oppinions, I still dissagree with em sometimes
but just dont tell em about it here as it's not worth the hassle.

May it would be handy to have an ignor button for PMs then. lf someones giving you abuse by PM you could just block them. l`ve always regarded a private message as PRIVATE. No matter what it said no one else gets to read it. l would have thought we would all be to stand up for ourselves on a forum with out running to admin.
Just my thoughts and aimed at no one but hey at least you can go for me with a PM safe in the knowledge that no one will ever know.
