Any reasons they don't use goblins for this? They are fairly light and very slippery too as far as I can see!

Looks like the secret is in using gravity to pick up speed, so i suppose you are limited by drag rather than ultimate power... I wonder whatd happen if we put different heli's in wind tunnels?

Gravity will only get you up to a cetain speed for the rest you need ultimate power to get over all the induced, parasite etc drag. Tip a Goblin forward by 30-40 deg and you'll see why its not as fast. If it was not for its unique servo arrangement it could maybe have a slim profile canopy and therefore be quite a bit quicker.
I have also tried, instead of going in to a stall turn after a speed run doing a fast banked turn but this is fooking hard and scary at these speed but I think may be key rather than the stall as you waste all that energy whereas in a banked turn your keeping most of it
