I feel ill after watching that.

were they clipped on while climbing or just at the top?

Looked to me like he only clipped on to take a breather. It was when he got to the flat platformy bit with the large final tube on it and he was feeling out a hand-hold that got me.

I would have been frozen and eyes tight closed just looking up at from the ground :O

Reminds me of a visit to Dubai last year. My hotel room was on the 47th floor and high above was a guy walking towards the end of a crane jib with a reel of cable under his arm. He was not tied to anything and no harness or parachute but he did have his hiviz and hard hat on!!

i do work at heights, and the height i am at doesn't bother me, but i am clipped on all the time and generally have something to lean back on which makes it seem better

According to the narrator they were free climbing (quicker that way) and only clipped on to take a breather.

he has a harnest - i don't have a problem with that. it's kinda like going on rollercoasters. you know you're safe so it's ok.

but then again, i'm watching the video and i'm sat at home. could be a different matter when i'm actually up there...

And i taught Curtis Youngblood how to fly!!

When i went to Alton Towers in the early 80's i was about to take my seat on the then famous CorkScrew. I changed my mind at the last minute & the guy behind me took my place. As it came down the slope towards the sharp bend before the loops the safety harness flipped up & the guy pulled it down as it entered into the bend. I may not of reacted as fast as i was 13 & probably would have been killed. It's that incident that's made me scared of rides, not what it's doing but the thought of that harness flipping up as it can & will happen again. Actually it almost happened when i was at Blackpool Pleasure Beach & the staff were ignoring the woman shouting that her harness wouldn't lock. Oh & the Big One got stuck for half an hour near the apex of the first climb. I think them guys are probably safer than a Rollercoaster.
