Let's not nanny state and judge too much. Those guys fly well enough that they are going to be fully aware of the risks and choose to take them.

Anyway they're foreigners so you can't judge them by '@rse-wipe/NHS/elf' standards. I'm sure folk thought the Wright bros were pretty mad to risk themselves too

To be fair if my kids were capable of doing that then they'd probably pick up some sponsorship and I'd get all their cast offs freebies & big discounts so I wouldn't mind too much!!

And if it got them out of the house and prises Playstation & DS out of their hands I think it's worth the risk.

the holding the heli bit does appear a little insane, but hey, their choice. no one else around. if they have got to the stage where they fly that well then they know the dangers. makes a more entertaining video than most of the endlessly boring heli filming out there. best put bags over our kids heads so that they dont see anything out there in the big bad world.

Just to be clear(again),i aint got a prob with what people do,matey can 'plank' on the skids for all i care,its the posting on youtube,for other people to see and copy that leads to people getting seriously hurt and giving our hobby a bad name,thats all.

Yeah but how many non flyers know the true danger of our hobby? The real worry are when well known pilots start doing really daft/dangerous things. They are ambassadors of our hobby and people WILL follow them. I think you know who I mean. While impressive, he seems to want to really push it further with each vid. Just hope nothing bad ever happens to him or a spectator.

I was meaning that doing a Kaos/piro-flips/hurricanes at head height and not very far from a crowd is just as dangerous as what those guys were up to, its very easy for it to go wrong a heli fly off in the wrong direction and whack someone, but no body ever seems to comment about how unsafe what these known guys are up to. Last year at the BMFA nationals it was howling a gale and the Opti-Fuel boys still flew 4 helis at the same time and in close proximity, much the same as these guys were doing but no-one batted an eyelid! (granted there wasn't the inverted take off shenanigans!)

I think there is far more worrying stuff on kids TV encouraging kids to do stuff far worse than mess around with a toy helicopter in a way others feel is inappropriate or damaging to our image.

I do think they are toys, a view that a lot of people contest. But in my mind they serve no purpose other than to amuse and entertain us, yes they are dangerous, but toys nonetheless, regardless of what the manual says!

dont know what was in second vids,my comments are aimed at the guy holding the tail,of course flying at head height is dangerous but people have a chanc to act,if mateys elevator fails an flips up in the vid and minces up his face and body would your veiws still be the same?

I'm nit belittling the dangers but somewhere along the line folk have to be responsible for their own actions.. be it watching a lion tamer or fire eater on youtube or a bomb disposal expert or a heli pilot. Not everyhting is ging to have a 'don't try this at home' sticker on it.
Next we'll have signs on every tree..'don't climb this tree, you might fall off' or 'contents of kettle may be hot'

When I was a kid we climbed trees and fell out, fell through the ice on wintry rivers, played stupid games of chicken with knives....and not many of use got seriously injured. What we didn't do was mug old ladies, knife out friends to nick their stuff or swear and beat up our teachers or bus conductors. We learned the limits of our stupidity and a certain respect for pain and we didn't expect every insult to lead to 'compensation'...

I've gotta say the tail holding was the bit that got me. Everything else is a bit of costly fun.

I'm not going to pass an opinion other than to say that if someone in our club decided to hold a 700 by the tail and throttle up, they would be escourted off the field fairly quickly.

I have no issues with it being on youtube, infact youtube would get dull if you were censored on what you could upload. If a kid was able to copy it then i'd be jelous that a kid has a 90 size heli in the 1st place. If a kid did try it then why the hell did he/she have a heli in the 1st place as they obviously have no idea of safety issues.

I do think the guy has excellent piloting skills that is in no doubt but in my book he is an idiot the evidence is in the second video where he takes of inverted holding the boom in his hand how the hell can he be in control ? just have a look:-
