  • my trex 600 first ever nitro flight

    bought this on the 26/04/2011

This is my first proper heli, honeybee before it was abit pants and a waste of money.
Not very long but i dint like my bro viding me. As im new it was putting me off a little, not doing nothing special as i'm a noobie. Used 3 tanks of fuel, and don't want to try to much to soon.

sim time as deff helped cos if not, today may well have ended in a crash.

    Cam used was 3GS

It looks like you don't need the training gear on. You were stable enough, and if things did go wrong from the height you were hovering at, that training gear would only exacerbate problems.

I don't like saying this, but you really need to be more aware of safety. That heli was far too close to the cameraman, even for an experienced pilot, let alone someone who is just at the hovering stage. At one stage the heli seemed to pass over his head.

yep when the cam was off told him whats he playing at, i did move over about 7ft out of the way. As it was my first outing i put the gear on just to see how it was set up, turns out i like the settings. Will not be using them again as it's worn out the alloy skids a good few mill, also worn the training gear.

It is surprising how many people think they are harmless because they are toys. It can't have helped your concentration either.

FWIW I think you made a great choice. I got a nitro 600 at exactly the same stage as you and it is an excellent machine to learn and develop on. I am glad to hear you are taking the TG off, like I said, you don't need it and it will fly even better without it on.

Not be going out till friday now, stuff that wedding. The only good thing is i get the night off for free.

Yep it looks the dogs, no club member yet one about a mile or 2 down the road, might go down wi mi bro at the weekend. when i was looking at parts to buy new alloy skids, parts are cheap enough. Noticed blades was £20 cheeper then mi bros raptor, he would pay the same price for wood. Yes abit smaller but not £20's worth, well happy with it and how it flys. As some body said on my other post, dont go off the sim on how they fly.

i would take the training gear off mate, the heli will probably be more stable without it.

well what a pants day it's been here, think it's been abit to windy for a noobie. What would you say as in wind conditions i would be able to fly, need to get in as much fly time as i can.

Don't rush it. Only fly in the wind IF you feel comfortable. That's probably at below 10 mph winds to, as while learning, there is enough to be thinking about.
Flying in wind can be fun, time to stop when it becomes a fight.

Gradually build up the wind you fly in and you will be laughing at all those people who wait for the still days- start at almost none, then make yourself go out in gradually increasing wind strengths- a 600 will handle wind fine, but you will need to dial back what you do if you are flying in stronger wind than usual until you get used to it. Make sure you can get a good solid hover before you go out in anything stronger- you were moving around a bit in that Vid, so I would stick to light airs for now until you have a confident hover.

The UK is windy- learn to fly in it and you get many more days you can fly.

Sounds like a good point, I'll just have to wait it out.

Been out today little wind every now and then it was fine, Also i have removed the training gear. Flys alot better and seems easyer to land, or this could be me taking my time to land, cos if i got it wrong then it cos money.
Try and get out tom for another go.
