  • Blade msr set up?

    Hi guys,
Just got a blade msr to mess about with indoors, its soooo tiny!
    Couple of questions though.
Using it with my DX7, is it best to set it up as a heli or as a plane?
When flying and i give it full throttle, it spins madly to the left, how do i stop that?
And when i operate the rudder stick, it also moves the elevator servo, is it meant to do that?!
    Cheers.

On my DX7 I have it set as a heli.
As far as spinning is concerned, check the connector that runs from the tail motor to the top of the five-in-one board is pucjed right home. They tend to come loose and, even tho they look like they are connected, and the tail motor spins, they don't spin fast enough.
And yes, it will move other servos.

I set mine up as a heli and it works very well.
I was also given some advice on setup which worked very well for me, this was....

Try 30% expo and 75% travel on your dual rates for Alieron and Elevator. This calms it down really well and will give you more of a chance to practice various manouvers without going out of control, worked a treat on mine anyway.
It made it a little easier to control but kept it fun to fly.

Hope that helps, and hope you enjoy the mSR as much as I do.

Martin, thank you, said tail motor connector had a millimetre or so gap, pushed it closed and tail drift is better.
Any idea as to how i can tune tail drift completely out or is it just a trimming job?

Cheers Andy, not tried it with dual rates yet, flies nice i think apart from the bloody tail drift/kick!
Really enjoying flying it, cant wait to take it outside, seems really fast in forward flight!

Something you might have missed Sparkle is the model cant be moved untill the Light comes on Solid or the Gyro will not set correctly. I found this easiest if you sit the model near the edge of a table then plug the battery then wait for the light to come on before sliding the battery into its housing.

Remember there should be no Subtrim/Rudder Trim on the TX.

If its wandering side to side or fore and aft from not being set correctly you can trim the two pushrods as the link rods are threaded untill hovers without trim.

                cheers Brian

It may be a case of trimming. However, all electric helis, especially the smaller ones, drift one way or the other dependent on the state of discharge of the battery.

Over time you kinda learn to put rudder input into the heli of differing degrees to counteract the drift.

Yeah, i keep it still to let the gyro initialise mate. And i do the same, connect battery, and fit to heli after blue light goes solid. Its so tiny i struggle to fit the battery too quickly!

Yeah, got used to holding some rudder in on my CX2 as the pack voltage drops. Been looking on some US heli sites re the msr tail drift, seems its a fairly common thing. Someone wrote that if you have a decent CP heli, the gyro on it alone probably cost more than your msr! Which it did, so maybe i shouldnt expect too much from my new toy! It is so much fun though, zooms around like a marauding dragonfly!
