  • Worlds smallest 3 channel helicopter with Gyro

    Hi all,

Unveiled at this Octobers Import and Export Trade fair in Guangzhou is the worlds smallest 3 channel METAL micro helicopter with Gyro. I took some pictures on the booth while I was there. I should have some of these back in the UK within the next few weeks. Video link is:

Looks like the heli that Gav has and he brought it along to the last Southampton meet at Crestwood. It's the sort of build quality that the MSR should be imho. Although I'm not sure if Gavs was 3ch and had a gyro and I think his was called a Twister. I'm sure he'll post here shortly.

The ones in the picturs are coaxial so a gyro is not required

Quite new to this so I take it then that the secondary head is just rotated at the same head speed as the primary head but just in a reverse direction. Single set bladed helis have the gyro to automatically adjust the tail rotor pitch to compensate for this rotation.

I have one of these helis and can confirm the build quality is absolutely stunning considering the price point. The frame is metal and the tiny screws and components are a joy, battery is lipo and the crashability is surprisingly resilient!
As for performance it is really stable and flies really well inside the house, the red & green flashing lights complete the experience which is all good.

My only comment relates to the controls action as the left stick is "lift" whilst the right stick provides elevator & Rudder which feels a bit weird! otherwise I love it and it makes a beautiful ornament amongst the heli fleet, a great stocking filler.

PS Look also at the nine eagles mini copter, this one has more familiar mode1/mode2 collective controls a also is a great indoor option. 4CH RC Remote Control mini Helicopter Nine Eagle 210A on eBay (end time 02-Dec-09 12:40:32 GMT)

PPS the stated "gyro" function relates to the flybar stabilisation.

Which produces gyroscopic stabilisation, bit confusing I guess.

With the stick configuration I would say they wanted just the left stick for lift and have movement controlled with the right. Even though most of us would be used to left stick rudder.

Looks very similar to the MCX/MSR design by the looks of it. Probably made in the same factory or somebody stole the designs ^_^

The shop where I bought it has the MSR side by side and IMO there is no difference.

Whether the designs have been stolen I cannot comment but I do know that the Chinese are very good at reverse engineering and copying existing products!
